Well when you mix equal parts dishonest and stupid you get the_trader. Honestly with all the mistakes he made I really do not think that he originally intended to rip us off. I think he got two offers on the same models and said oh WTF I'll take both, and stated scamming. Not realizing that he had given out his ebay refs to one guy and his address to another for shipping.
The one thing this IS really showing us is how open we are. If the_trader did not make all these mistakes we wouldn't have been able to find him. However the few positive trades that gave us his address, is what gave him a little bit of street cred that probably allowed us to fall into his trap. I do not think we would have trusted a 0 rep nearly as much as a guy with a few positives.
I am sure this will be rectified expeditiously when the "Bobbys" show up at his front door next week.
You really got to love the Internet.
The police officer that I was talking to asked are all you Canadians so prepared and knowledgeable. All the Brits calling here don't know anything when they call. You know everything about this guy.

the_trader and Rockula have the same IP address. So in my opinion he was probably planning this from the start. He just wanted to build up some "street cred" first, and see how the process worked over here.

Thier advice would probably help us on how exactly to handle this. Because of the dollar value I think this would probably actually be of interest to them. I asked a few of my police friends and they said they would act on this if contacted. Canadian law is very similar to British.

Ok those who know me know my place, those that dont, well enjoy. This is from today, only minutes ago. To sum up those that dont want to read it, he says he has a lawyer and is disabled, so basically he implies he cant get into trouble. Yea right... he admitted to commiting 22 or more acts of mail fraud, not to mention everyone of you guys paypal recipts..
Have fun and enjoy what a douche this kid really is. I personally think he intended to rip people off at the start, which is why he cleared the paypal account out within 2-3 days of getting all the money. Oh and excuses me cussing at him, it happens.

He did indeed buy crap off ebay including a warhound and a reaver armorcast titan. Not to mention a bunch more stuff. I have msn chats of him admitting that as well.
I highly advise each person calls his local hull police instead of having 1 person do all the reports. It will bother the cops enough with out of country calls that they should do something, at least to stop the calls.
That said, he has mentioned a few times he has been going to court. If thats true, a criminal committing more crimes is wayyy more likely to serve jail time then a person thats never been in trouble.
