I posted an ad in the 40k forum on Friday, Dec 11th with my own personal haves and wants. A FLGS near me closed its doors last week and the owner, a very good friend of mine, has asked me to sell the remaining 40k and AOS items for him as he's what one might call a "longbeard" and is uncomfortable selling over the internet himself.
I have read the rules and understand users aren't normally allowed to post within 7 calendar days of each other, but if possible I would rather not make him wait until Friday when I've reached the end of the 7 day wait before listing his items. Is there any way I can be given an exception to the 7 day period to list his items? My new post would not contain any of my haves/wants from the previous post. If I have to wait the 7 days I understand, but I'd really like to start getting this guy some money back as soon as possible.
thanks,
Josh

Re: 7 day limit
There's no functional way to allow a user to bypass the 7-day limit, even if we wanted to - it's embedded into the custom code changes we've made to the forum software. Not even Admins and Mods can bypass it.
I'd say just reply to your post with all of your new stuff, edit your title and make a announcement at the top to point browsers to the second post. Since you're adding a ton of new stuff, you've a legit reason for "bumping" your old post.

ADD it to your first post, THEN reply to it. In the reply, state what changes you made to the initial post.
This process is laid out in the site rules.

Re: 7 day limit
I have done what Plarz and MagickalMemories suggested, the resulting post is here:
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=270348&p=491459#p491459
I believe it's within all bartertown guidelines, if not please let me know and I'll make the necessary changes. I do however still have 2 questions:
- It does not appear that the bump shifted my spot in the topic list at all. I'm not complaining, just confused as to why there are rules against bumping if the bumps don't actually have the negative effects they do in other forums?
- My understanding of the rules is that this "legal bump" did not reset my 7 day counter and I can still make a fresh post this coming Friday the 18th, correct?

Looks good to me, but there's a reason I don't usualy chime in on policy things (as evidenced by MM's correction of my suggestion) - I'm not good at that stuff.jchamberland27 wrote:I have done what Plarz and MagickalMemories suggested, the resulting post is here:

The no bumping rule is because most users utilize the "View Active Posts", "View New Posts" or "View Unread Posts" available from the main page to see what's new/active. You get bumped there if you reply, and so constant replies without useful data clutter up those views and cause people who aren't interested to re-read a post several times.jchamberland27 wrote:I believe it's within all bartertown guidelines, if not please let me know and I'll make the necessary changes. @jchamberland27
If you read the rules about bumping, it explains that, although posts don't actually "bump," in the traditional sense, we use the term because it's a concept that most internet users understand.
(Though, not in those exact words)
