Inventorying a collection of 40K

I have posted in another thread that I'm looking to sell my huge (at least to me) collection of 40K. Most people are asking for an inventory of what I have. Are there any free tools commonly used for this? Do people just use a word document or spreadsheet? What information is helpful?

I bought most of my stuff from around 2005-2011. However I was a big user of eBay also, so some models are earlier. I just listed 30 some painted bolters. Do I need to break down how many are in which type of armor? I have some of the beak faces along with regular models, along with the 2 piece snap togethers from the into sets.

Obviously pictures will help with the inventory, but just seeing if there's anything standard before I put in a lot of time inventorying the collection in a different way.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Todd

Here's what I would do with your collection:

- Sort it all out on a table
- Organize it into units
- Take notes of each unit in a spreadsheet with Unit Name, composition (armor types isn't really necessary), condition, etc.
ex: Tactical Squad 1 (10 Marines. 7 Bolters, 1 ML, 1 Flamer, 1 Sgt with BP/CCW. Plastic, Painted, Snapfit)
- Take pictures of each unit individually
- Go out and figure out how much each unit would cost at current prices (use GW's website)
- Figure out prices based on condition and individual units (I generally go with 60% for NIB, 40-50% for Assembled Bare, 25-50% for Painted)
- Post a big old list on here.

Alternatively, take pictures of the whole lot with as good an approximation of list as you can and post it as one big lot at a severe discount (75% or more off). Let someone take the whole thing off your hands and do all the work themselves. (I specialize in this, as do some others on the board.)

There is a free program for compters, Iphones and Androind devices.
I'll send you the name. Since it asks for donations and might be frowned upon to be named here since they don't advertise.

I, too, would be interested in this please. Is it also usable for Warhammer Fantasy?

Thank you.
