Paypal accounts...

How exactly do they work? Can anyone walk me through an average bartertown paypal transaction?

I opened one, and linked my credit card to it for purchases, but was hesitant to link my bank account to it, for general paranoia reasons. :) Should I just bite the bullet and link it to my checking account?

What fees are involved? Can they credit my credit card directly, or do they have to mail me a check? Can they hold funds in escrow or something like that? (i.e. they hold the money from party A to pay for an item shipped by party B, until A says it's OK)

So many questions!

I need to liquidate a sizable amount of stuff because of impending life changes... figured I might try this before ebay...

Thanks to anyone who is kind enough to answer!

What I know:

You can send money 2 ways. Gift and goods/service. Send money for goods/services for everything BUT family or if you know the person IE Aunt Sara or your cousin. Goods/services for EBAY items or Bartertown/Dakka items. Paypal takes a small fee as insurance in case the other person goes MIA. Paypal can send you money direct but it takes 3-5 days depending on your bank. You can also get a Paypal CC if you wish. No idea on the escrow thing.

And 1 more thing. Bartertown does not in any way shape or form milk any money from a Paypal transaction despite what some people think. Btown is 100% free but they do offer a paid membership where you are subjected to questionable postings from some members but are allowed to have better sale adds.

You can always transfer money into your PayPal account and just work off the balance. That's what I do more often than not.
