I have had two posts locked now because of rule #13 but the post I JUST put up tonight has been far from 7days after the last posting which was on 6-17-14, today's is 7-1-14 that is actually double the time stated in that rule.

Re: Why is my post locked?
Hello Arlimes,
I have already replied to your PM as to why I locked your threads. However, since you decided to bring this publicly I shall explain it so that others might also understand why your posts were locked and to perhaps learn from it so they too do not have the same inquiry. The only reason I have decided to make this public comment is because I always comment on threads I address (most of the time it is after I lock a thread for bumping), so other members will know exactly who it was that locked your posts -therefore some clarification is needed here.
We do not allow members to freely bump their threads like other websites. Usually when a person bumps their thread it goes to the top of the page/list. This has been prevented via code for Bartertown. The only thing bumping does is notifies users who have subscribed to your thread or have changed their settings to see new posts and/or receive notifications of new posts.
The only time we allow a "bump" is when you update/edit your original ad and then reply with a comment that states what was updated/edited. In the two threads that were locked, you did not do this. Therefore, I locked them and posted the rule #13 quote so you could read it directly so you knew why I locked it.
When a user comments on their thread with things like "Bump", "Still available", "Contact me for pictures", "Need this gone", etc, it is not abiding by rule #13. However, things like "Updated wants to add XX, XY, XYZ" or "Added XX to the list", etc, are allowed as they notify the reader as to what was changed to the original post.
Also, replying to member's comments that do not directly relate to a question about the trade ad is also considered a "bump", accidental or not. For example, if a user posted "PM'd You" or "Can you send pictures" and you replied with "Got it, PM'd you back", "Sure what's your email" or something else along the lines, it is considered an indirect bumping of your post. However, if a member commented with something like "What version of XX is this?" or "Will you part out and/or trade rather than only sell?" and you replied with an answer, it would be allowed. If the comment could have been brought to PM, it should go to PM. Replying to a user asking for pictures is not an answer the majority of members would want to read as it wouldn't impact their decision on your trade ad. Pictures are usually a big thing when selling converted and used models as most people do not blindly trade for them. Having pictures then, is almost a must (some exceptions apply obviously). So replying to a user about sending you their email is not something that is deemed as "bump" worthy. Especially since the comment in question was not a question itself about the trade ad but a simple request to see your converted work.
Your threads were locked because you violated the bumping portion of rule #13 which is in bold text and the important parts highlighted in red. Bartertown trade forums have been coded so a member may not post a new ad until the 7 days are up, and so it would be impossible to violate that portion of the rule.
Of course, all comments may be viewed differently from one person to another. This is why we allow members to appeal the decisions of the staff if they feel they have done nothing wrong. You can find the rules for appealing at the bottom of the Bartertown Rules page. Appeals should go directly to an admin (red name) such as Magickalmemories or Linrandir with any PM's between you and the staff member and any other information you have to support your case. This way both you and the staff member in question may be addressed with the issue and presented a solution. If the admin feels the staff member was wrong, they may educate the staff member further as to why they were wrong. We are here as volunteers, we try our best but sometimes we still need to learn!
Hopefully this explanation in full can answer any question as to why your post was locked (or help others in a similar situation). I would suggest reading over the full set of rules and if you have any questions or concerns regarding them to contact a member of staff before posting anything further. These rules can be found here: viewtopic.php?f=44&t=45470

Rule #13: Ad Posting & "Post Bumping"
Please note that Bartertown users are limited to one topic/ad per forum per seven calendar days. Also, they may not "bump" their own topic/ad - ever.
For those of you who don't understand this: Look at a calendar. If I post an ad on 3 July in the 40k forum I may not repost an ad to that forum until 10 July. That is seven calendar days. It's a legal term.
Example:
Let's say I have some LOTR Riders of Rohan I want to get rid of and other miscellaneous stuff from WHFB and 40K. I can post an ad with those items together in the LOTR, WHFB and 40K forums. Seven calendar days later, I can post another ad with the same items OR I can edit the ad at any time.
What I can't do is relist the items every day in each forum.
Helpful Hint: The idea here is to prevent excessive promotion of one's trade/sale items or discussion topics. Users are prohibited via software from making more than one new topic per seven days (4 days for Bartertown Plus members), but there are other ways to self-promote. It's awkward wording, but "post bumping" is a term understood by the greatest number of people.
A Trade Ad should only be placed in the most appropriate forum for the item(s) it contains. If you only have bits or terrain, for example, your ad should only go in the forum for what you have. If you have both, then both forums are the "most appropriate."
-If you only have and/or want 40K models, then your ad should only go in the 40K forum
-If you only have and/or want bits, regardless of the game system, then your ad should only go in the Bits forum
-If you only have and/or want terrain, regardless of the game system, then your ad should only go in the Terrain forum (etc.)
If you've got items that fit into multiple categories, you may cross-post given the stricture above.
You may update your ORIGINAL POST (OP), and you may then immediately leave a reply in the thread stating WHAT was updated. If you fail to update the OP, or fail to state what you updated in the reply; then your thread will be locked for Bumping and you will be given a warning.

RyanRule #1a: ASK PERMISSION. DO NOT SEEK FORGIVENESS.
If you're not sure, ask FIRST. If you're not sure, ask FIRST. Do not go ahead and do something, then beg forgiveness later. This is one of the few cases I will over-rule a more merciful staff member who might get to you first. There is no forgiveness to be had, there is only permission to be asked beforehand.

Just a quick translation:
You get one post per forum per 7 days. Don't respond to it. Just edit the original or PM the person who responded to it.

This is incorrect.pretre wrote:Just a quick translation:

A poster absolutely MAY respond in thread, but under very limited conditions. Specifically, a poster may NEVER bump. A poster MAY edit the original post and then respond in thread indicating that the post was updated, and stating, in that new response in thread, what the updates were.

I know. I was trying to give him the easier to read version since the full version was not working for him.s_o_r_r_o_w wrote:This is incorrect.pretre wrote:Just a quick translation:
