Awhile ago Pete Haines had an Ork footslogger army go against the Ultramarines. All footslogging mobs of Orks. Is this a workable option in the new book? Will it win any games? Any advice?

Ork footsloggers can be pretty competitive. When I first started them I had trouble spending the money on vehicles so I just slogged across the table with 120 boys, and eventually I even started footslogging my nob squads. As long as you can keep pie plates off the nobs they are very competitive footslogging and the squads of boys end up being 31 wound nobs with power klaws. The ease of getting a squad a cover save kinda negates the drawback of flimsy ork armor. What really made me buy vehicles was more how tiresome it was moving so many boys.

I have to find the White Dwarf the battle was in- but it did well vs. the Marines.

We have a local who uses a footslogger army very well. It is daunting to have a few hundred of those buggers coming at you.
He maxes out his units and leaves them barebones. Loads and loads of boyz units marching and running across. If I remember correctly, he used like a single deff copta to speed across into close combat with enemies heavy weapons units in a suicide move to keep some fire off the boyz. He stomped me into the ground.

Green tides can and do work! The only problem I had running my tons of troops list was how long it takes to move squads of 30 boys, it is very slow. My other problem is trying to space them out to avoid being templated, but at the same time moving forward through terrain, last time I ran a list like this every run roll was a 1 or 2. 100+ shootas and sluggas is very hard to take down, some armies just can't muster the firepower. Good luck if you go with it! I think if you are very patient and can move lots of models quickly do it!

Its not too expensive to make with AOBR Orks.

True, those are the majority of the models the guy at my local uses. I just wish he would start to paint them up. It looks crappy as it stands now and would look SO great if he were to put effort into painting them.
Of course, running a horde guard army and taking over 2 years to get them all painted (I know thats a long time, but I put "character model" effort into each and every one of the models), I can understand his not wanting to undertake that.

Any advice on a decent 2k list?

What models do you have or are we talking about a list to work towards?
snowed in here (and laid off anyway) so have plenty of time to work on one for you to take a gander at/make fun of/ use/ tweek/whatever. lol

Footslogging orks can be brutal, unless it comes up against a list tooled up for taking down hordes. I'm assuming you'd have lootas as your elites, some kans or dreads as your heavies, and 6 units of 30 boys, probably with a mek or two w/ KFF. I've faced armies like that, and they're definitely tough. If I knew I was going to be facing an army like that, I could almost definitely brutalize it, but in tournaments, you have to take all-comers lists.

Dont want to have too many heavies. I want to stick with mainly foot troops.

- I do have an abundance of Dethcoptas. Any good? Maybe with rokkits?

Lootas are the most widely used and running a semi-mechanized army, I can say that they are my number one priority target when facing a foot slogging ork army. Things like the Zzap gun, and other toys certainly can give you higher than str 7 shots, of which you might want to take, but ultimately, the strength in an ork horde army is putting as many models on the table as possible, so I think it's best to stick to as much as possible.

I think that deathcoptas are pretty useless, but I don't play orks, only against them, and what I might be able to tear apart with ease, the next opponent might have tons of trouble with them.

Figure out what 6-30 ork boyz squads runs (definitely w/ a nob poll, and at least one power klaw each), and then fill in the rest from there, as that's going to be your base.

Any good Ork sites? With some lists/tactics. i want a primarily footslogger/green tide without expensive "toys".

I personally love me my Deffcoptas. I use TL Rokkits in one squad and the TL Big Shootas in another squadron.

Rokkits = good anti-armor when you get rear shots easily with their manuverability

Big Shootas = great anti infantry (3 dice per copta, rerolling misses)

Plus, they are outflanking scouting Jetbikes.. so can come in on the flanks and turbo 24" for a 3+ invul save..

I have seen a fair number of Deffcoptas into Biker conversions though.. that is another option.

Warseer is also a good place to get help with them.
