They are Jetbikes, not transports, so they have a statline, not vehicular stats, and thus don't care about being Open Topped.

When they get hit, they are SLIGHTLY tougher than a Marine, and take 2 marine's worth of wounds.
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

Oops, my mistake. so toughness 5(4) then?

Slightly better against small arms fire, but assuming they have a 5+ armor save, they're still dying fast.

guag... I don't recall all of their stats off hand, but I can tell you that they're not as bad as you seem to think.

In the right army (right = balanced), they can be quite a hindrance to the enemy. With their ability to sit in 4+ cover & fire s8 from a distance... Trust me. When played right, they CAN make a difference.

Thanks for the 45 point correction. I was thinking TL Rokkits was standard & you could switch it out (been a while since I used them).
I go with the saw over the bomm for the points. Your reasoning, though, makes sense...

Against me, cover just about never matters... As I all but ignore it, or can if I so choose with any weapon in my army... So I know that I eat those things for breakfast. I've only faced them once as far as I remember, and it was a breeze to drop them, and my army is very balanced. The 120 or so orks backing them up, not so much.

Against anyone with an amount of dedicated assault troops, or who can use a few template weapons or other things that ignore cover, which I'd guess is probably about 3/4 of all-comers armies, those things are toast.

Granted, I'm a very competitive tournament player, so I might be playing a different style of game, as I'm really all for maximizing points values in units. I don't want to discount something outright, as I'm sure there's a decent use for them, but on the surface, they seem like a points-sink.

Seems to me that deth koptas would be the equivalent to taking SM attack bikes. So if you turbo a couple across the board and take out an enemy tank worth more than a hundred points, you've earned your points back.

There is something not adding up here...

I am totally confused.

GUAG being a very competitive tournament player AND playing TAU.

The math is not adding up here!!!

Can someone please clarify this?

 LOL

 BURN!!!!!

 Ouch!!!!

On topic...Do not forget about the mad docs to give your big boys units Feel no pain!!! 31 Models with FNP is VERY hard to deal with especially if they have a cover save as well.

Well, I COULD play "easy" mode and play marines or orks... but I prefer a challenge.

SM bikes are BS 4, and have multimeltas, for 5 more points. They also have a 3+ armor save. HUGE difference. and I think that attack bikes are also points sinks, these are even worse.

FNP doesn't work with anything but armor saves. Since boys have Armor 6+, most weapons have an AP value that means FNP can't be used.
Still, though, I *love* to take Mad Dok and drop him in a unit of 'Ard Boyz. The 4+ save goes farther, making the FNP more valuable.

Actually this isn't correct. I dont have the book in front of me at work, but ut says something like you can take FNP on any wound normal armor saves would be allowed. So unless the wound denys any kind of armor save (AP 1 or 2 or a power fist) then you can take a FNP save.

Isn't the wording something like "weapons that ignore armor saves or cause instant death"?

I think he might be right MM.

If you can't use your armor save (AP4 for Boyz), then you can't use FNP. Since a weapon with an AP 1, 2,3,4, 5 or 6 means you can't use your armor save (for most Orks), then you don't get FNP for it.
