Alternatives to Paypal

Post by kpatterson14223 »

Has anybody found an easy alternative to using paypal to send/receive payments for trades on bartertown? I'm starting to get really sick of having to wait ~2 weeks to be able to move the funds, on top of the slew of other issues that paypal has with randomly holding funds, etc.

Paypal and then Ebay made sure that they've put all, or most all, of the competition out of business.

Once you get established with Paypal, You can withdraw funds instantly. It takes about 3 days to clear your bank, not including weekends.

I've had my paypal account for ~8 years and have taken in thousands of dollars in payments over that time and they still hold my funds for two weeks. It's hilariously ridiculous considering I've never had an incident/case where I was the offender that actually resulted in a ruling against me.

Seems like they started that resctriction across the board ~2-3 years ago and for some reason my account will not get unflagged.

Dwolla.com. I've been using it for quite a while. It isn't instant, but it is much faster than Paypal. Plus each transaction is 25 cents, period.

For the sake of argument, lets say I never look at PMs during the weekend

I was able to upgrade my account pretty easy. Just had to provide proof of who I was. Next day money transfers now.

Every time I send a Payment/Gift/Money to anyone on bartertown (or anywhere else really) it goes right away. Then, 1-3 days later it comes out of my bank account. I have my bank account and my credit card linked up though and because of it I am able to send immediately due to my "back up funding source" as they like to say. Any time I receive anything through Paypal either as a gift or payment, I get access to it right away.

I would recommend calling them, explain your situation, see what they say.
