I'm not worried he is going to take my money and run its just I'm am going out of town next week for a while and I don't want to miss the package and have it sitting out side till I get back.

You always should contact your local post office and tell them to hold your mail at the office when you go out of town.
The rules for delivery, to protect the mail, [from being stolen] is that if mail sits in the box for 3 days, the letter carrier picks it up and holds it at the office. If they don't hear from the receiver that they've moved or are back in town after 5? 7? 10? days [i don't recall the number], all of the mail gets returned to sender.

You can go online and fill out a form saying when you want them to stop and restart, delivering you mail.

If I can add to what kturock says here add a day or two for the hold. My parents had mail held and the carrier dropped everything off early. Could have been a problem.
