Post bumping, ok or not ok?

Post by Ryan_A »

I read Rule #13: Ad Posting & "Post Bumping" and still dont understand if it is ok to bump posts. I just edited a post I did 5 days ago (huge edit) and wanted to bump it, but dont understand rule 13. It says one topic every 7 days, but doesnt say 1 bump every 7 days (that I read). And of course I know the rule ask for permission, not forgivness haha.

Bumping is not okay and is useless since it doesn't move your post up the list.

It is best to create a new thread every 7 days (4 if you are Bartertown Plus). I edit the old post to include a link to the new one so that people don't get ahold of me on the wrong one.

Plus it says not to bump posts.
Also, they may not "bump" their own topic/ad - ever.
Seriously. Read the manual.

However.. editing your post and then adding a second post to the bottom that says WHAT you edited is perfectly fine.

So, you updated a post you did 5 days ago.. you can say things like "Edited to remove sold/traded items" or added more Ork units .. or.. added new wants.

As long as the original ad was edited, and the second post lists what was changed.. you are good.

A simple post that says "Bump!" is really what we are fighting against.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

And pretre, it doesn't move the post up the list in the forum. But a lot of people do the same thing I do, which is to check the new posts. So if you keep bumping, your post keeps getting put at the top of that list.
