To post BO or not to?

Post by optimusprime14 »

So this is more of a looking for opinion than a how to.

I made a deal with a reputable and experience Btown member (almost 300 ref) and the deal was good and solid (both agreed upon the deal and when to ship) Then they nothiced I was in Canada, after the deal was made. The user was polite and said they should have seen my location and asked if they could back out. I left the choice up to them and they choce to do so.

Now the the question is do I post a BO report? What is the general feeling on if someone did BO but it seems to be an honest mistake and they are an experienced user in good standing?

Why did he BO?

Were you unwilling to pay for shipping?

Also, does he have a 'No Canada' or 'US Only' in his thread? I have had that in mine in the past and have had to tell people that a deal wouldn't go through because of it.

I have since changed my policy, but...

id say no. you offered the choice and he took it.
*notes about trading with me…
I do not like drawn out deals. Id like to have a deal signed and complete within 48 hours.
I abide by the unwritten rules… lower rating ships first pays first.
I always provide delivery confirmation and expect the same.
All deals are US only.

They actually responded to my post looking to trade.

I'm seeing if I can use a friends US address to complete this.

I would let it slide. It's more like a 'deal fell through' than a back out either way.

It does qualify. So, if you wanted to, you would be allowed.

That said, I should clarify something. I've said it before, but it bears repeating.

The backout forum was created was to report people who backed out. The REASON for that is because it is a common thing for scammers to back out of a lot of trades; they try to get as many people to agree to trade with them as possible and ship first. Sometimes, they even agree to ship first and (a) send fake DC#'s or (b) plead temporary financial issues or (c) *other and try to get you to ship your part before they ship theirs, even if they agreed to send first or to a simu-ship. When those fail, it's radio silence or they 'change their mind.'
Those things go hand in hand.

Previously, there was no way to track that until AFTER the scams started rolling in & people started chiming in how "I'm glad our deal didn't go through" (etc.). Someone changing their mind wasn't reportable at that time.
So, we started the BO/DB forum for that purpose.

I hope this info helps you make your decision.

Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.
