With cash trade (paypal) who typically pays shipping?

Post by Lord Putridus »

Hello guys,
I should mention first that I am a total newbie here. My question: If I sell/trade something here in exchange for cash/PayPal who typically pays the shipping? ...the seller or the buyer?

Thanks!

It is all based on your trade agreement. There isn't a rule of thumb besides that.

Ok gotcha... is there one method that is most common anyway or is it entirely different from trade to trade?

I'm a big believer in varying this policy based on the size of the transaction.

Someone buys a $250.00 box of Magic cards from me I'm happy to pick up shipping.

Someone buys a $10.00 book from me, they're paying shipping.
I am happy to send first if your rating and references warrant that.

Cool... that sounds very reasonable to me. Off topic - do you sell/trade Magic cards here? ...I have a bunch to sell in fact! :)

Yes, there is a specific CCG trade forum here.

Hah yeah I realize that sounded like a really dumb question... more specifically though, I know this is really a miniature trading site, do MTG cards sell/trade well here?

I have had limited success with Magic here thus far, but much of what I'm trying to move in that realm tends to be high end crap; dual lands, boxes of Modern Masters, etc.

I almost always charge the buyer for shipping as part of the deal and it is listed in my thread at the very top so that it is very clear.

Most of the time, it's the buyer that pays for shipping. As stated earlier, though, you do see plenty of deals where it's included.
It's not uncommon for a seller to receive offers of "$XYZ shipped," which means that the person is offering you that much, total, which includes an undefined amount that is presumably for shipping but, most often, means that's what they want to pay for the item and don't want to pay for shipping. : )

Lower rating? You ship first.

I think what this situation needs is some imagination.
