Holding magnets in place

Post by kturock »

Title sums it up.
I'm building the minotaurs box and magnetizing the hands and arms to be able to switch weapons.
What do you use to hold the magnet in place. I'm trying liquid greenstuff, to fill the hole as well as hold the magnet in place.
Heh, I was called a Grognard. ;-)
MY ALWAYS TRADE LIST: Scar Weaver, wmeredith, bloodstrike, tionas, wetstone, Frank Austin, akum, SW-DABOSS, Galador, nahatley, Joeb, Squeakula, mongse, con-fusion, basaint, jugglingfool, IsaiahTheBarbarian, Purple40k, Standard of War, BA-Best .

I have a drill bit the exact size of my magnets. I drill the hole, fill it with super glue then put in the magnet.

Super glue? Even on plastics?

I use Testors Model Master Liquid Cement for building them.

Well yeah, you can't use plastic glue. Super glue holds it great.

And you don't have a problem with it melting the plastic?

Yeah, what kind of glue are you using? I've never had super glue melt plastic. I have friends who use it on plastics instead of plastic glue.

I've used the cheap stuff, gorilla glue, super glue brand, about everything out there.
All have melted the plastic.

Yeah, that's never happened to me and I literally assembled all of my models with super glue.

For reference, I currently use Super Glue brand gel and liquid.

Do you have a name or can take a pic?

I've never seen any labeled as for hobbies.

I take that back. GW used to sell a super glue. It was the best thing I found for their Finecast.

This is what I used to use before I switched to just plain old superglue.

Seriously though, unless you're using an accelerator, I don't know how your super glue is melting plastic. That's crazy.

This is what I use now:
