Inaugural Bartertown Members Assembly Challenge
Inaugural Bartertown Members Assembly Challenge!!!
Just like the Paint Challenge but here you get points for building models. No extra points for how hard it was to build a model (Empire Steam Tank) but bonus points for doing something different (LED work) or using REMs to stretch your model (SM Commander doing all weapons). 2 people need to nominate you for bonus points and also say how many points you get as a bonus. Only models fully built after January 1st 2016 can be submitted in the challenge. Members can join at any time.
I will volunteer to run this. However, I only play 40k myself so I may not be perfect on awarding points from other games.
Here is the info on the points.
Regular infantry, 6mm inf./vehicle stands, 15mm inf. = 1pt.
Ogres, Ogrun, Trolls, terminators, Light Warjacks, 15mm Cavalry, 6mm large vehicles, defensiveline = 2pts.
Cavalry, Bikers, 15mm tanks = 3pts
Heavy Warjacks, Manticores, Hellpit Abominations, Smallish Vehicles, carnifexes, 15mm Big Stuff, bastion = 5pts.
Medium Vehicle (Leman Russ, Eldar Falcon, Tau Devilfish, etc...) = 6 points
Large Vehicles (Land Raiders, Valkyries, Trygon, WM War Engines) = 8pts.
Very Large Model ( Baneblade, imperial knight, etc...)= 10pts
Really HUGE Stuff (Titan, Stompa, etc...) = case by case!
Now get building!
Admin please sticky. Thanks.

I'm in.
On r/miniswap under the same name. Please be polite & answer PMs, even if all you tell me is "No thanks," or "I need more time." I expect lower rating to ship first, even if that's me, unless we work something out in advance.

Would it not be easier to combine the two? Or is this pure bare assembled stuff?

I mean, this kind of makes sense.3eland wrote:Would it not be easier to combine the two? Or is this pure bare assembled stuff?
I don't care either way, and I'm the new guy, but keeping track of both in the same thread seems more convenient and less onerous. Whatever y'all want.

Also what about the people who do not fully assemble before they paint the models? I am currently building a Chaos Knight but won't be glueing everything together until I paint the armour plates. Does it qualify as assembled when the plates are not attached?

I also don't always fully assemble some models until after I paint them. Which is sometimes, never.

Re: Inaugural Bartertown Members Assembly Challenge
I'm not going to promote the combining of the 2 threads. Assembly is different than painting. Some people don't give a rip about painting, so there's no need to clog the Painting Challenge thread with bare plastic models.
Regarding above, if you paint before fully assembling, IMO you should get the points for the painted model... I mean, you DID assemble it, after all.
Also, just what qualifies as "assembly?" I have TON of OOP 1 piece Genestealer Hybrids that are ONE piece models. Does gluing those to a base count as assembling?
Just my 2 coppers.
Eric

Lower rating? You ship first.
Give me a sense of humor Lord. Give me the grace to see a joke.
To get some humor out of life and pass it on to other folk.
I think what this situation needs is some imagination.

Re: Inaugural Bartertown Members Assembly Challenge
Like MM said, some people have a fear of the paint brush. This is their Challenge.3eland wrote:Would it not be easier to combine the two? Or is this pure bare assembled stuff?
Nothing would really stop one from double posting.3eland wrote:

It may be major cheese but 2 part models DO need to be built to be used on the table so you would get your points. Im not gonna say some members here wont give you a ration of poo about it. Espically those with red names.MagickalMemories wrote: Also, just what qualifies as "assembly?" I have TON of OOP 1 piece Genestealer Hybrids that are ONE piece models. Remember, this is the first year. We can hammer things out for next year if it works or scrap it altogether if it doesnt.
