Knight Titan with LED eyes!

I used a dichromatic (two tone color changy thingamajig that you see on cars), but it was so old that it just crackled instead of looking cool. I made lemonade from those lemons though and decided to use the 'wrinkles' in the dried base coat to make a lightning pattern that I am actually very happy with. I also drilled out holes and lit up his eyes with LED's; the 'transparent' paint I used to turn them red was less transparent than expected, so I'm going to scrape that off and leave the eyes simple white I think. Wiring my own LED's (extremely simple) with a battery holder from radio shack was about 5 dollars in parts and half an hour's time to get everything fit inside and mounted easily with a switch.

**I am not a photographer and have no good lighting or places to take better pictures, sorry!**

So the crackling effects in the paint is a mistake?
People, especially Necron players, will want that color and effects?
What kind of paint and where'd you get it?
I was talking to a couple of 'car guys' at work about the 2 color paint look. They didn't know where to buy just a small lot.
I'd love to useit on my crons with an air brush.

Great work btw.

Looks good, the crack effect works!

I'm a big fan of LEDs myself, putting them in everything bigger than a terminator. Why do you buy a multi pack of leds that way you don't have to worry about the colour? I managed to find a 100 pack, 6 colour, 2 size (3mm and 5mm) off of ebay for about $20 shipped. 1 word of advice, if you are using a 9V you might need a resistor or you could burn the lights out. I prefer the 1.5-3V watch sized batteries myself.

You can get cans of it at a lot of retail stores like Shopko and sometimes Walmart where they have an automotive section, they are normally about 10 bucks a can and are about half the size of a typical spray can. They are sold with special primer and clearcoat but I think they are just plain primer and clearcoat. The reason it crackled, I'm guessing, is that I bought this can about 3 years ago and just let it sit too long. I didn't ever have a second thought before jumping in with it that it may have sat too long (temporary idiocy cause by the excitement of having a knight titan).

I used two AAA batteries in the body and soldered the wires in parallel with the LEDs; normally I have thousands around but recently gave my extras to my students working on LED cube projects; again, temporary idiocy and impatience of owning a knight titan drove me to drop the 5 bucks so I could get going on it. I got the white ones because I didn't know what color I wanted and was going to try a two tone burning ember look that didn't work out because of the paint I used. I might get some oil base transparent paints, thin the hell out of them, and try again. :-o
