Hellbound Saints (Blood Angel Successors)

Please tell me what you think!
Posting some pictures of varying quality (I'm no photographer, sorry) of my marines, the Hellbound Saints. I spend an inordinate amount of time painting as it is my 'zen' focus and keeps me sane in life. The Hellbound Saints seek out the worst and most horrendous battle zones and call them home, they are also one of the few successors that fully embraces the black rage as a blessing, considering it the ultimate reward for honorable service and something to be revered. The basic theme is half white/silver and half black/orange to represent marines willing to do literally anything in the name of good. My death company will be all black with flames and demon-style helms painted gold to fit the theme. Sanguinary guard will be white with gold trim, being the other half of the dichotomy.
Bases are lava bases made from...cardboard from a cookie box (obsidian) and some clear thick varnish over the lava to appear more liquid. I'm cheap and like to use whatever I have.
One of two current HQ, my librarian that will also proxy in for the Hellbound Saints version of Mephiston once I finish a plasma pistol for him. This is my proudest work to date, easily:

Better view of much of the army, more to follow in posts below and the titan will be in another post altogether:

Terminator Assault "Hammer Time" squad before custom decals were added (tentative joke name, I assure you):

Centurions (I took care of the mold lines and need a new picture, but meh):

Some of the decals before matte varnishing over them (decal sheet that I made in photoshop posted below):

Dread, first model I got and before I decided to play blood angels, need to go back and clean up a bit, but I can't get rid of him because I have the words 'Ultima Ratio Regum' decaled on his knuckles (Last Argument of Kings):

One last picture for now, the transfer sheet I made in photoshop and then had printed off by a custom decal place; took forever for them to print and send, but was well worth the wait:

you can buy blank sheets to use in your home printer. Just make sure you get the correct type; ink jet or bubble jet.
1 of the locals makes his own. He said make sure you seal the paper, gloss on both sides, before you apply it or it'll run.
Great job btw.
How'd you accomplish the lightning effect on the halbards? Everytime I try it looks like crap.

I love seeing "home brew" chapters. You have a nice color scheme.
The closest thing I have to a criticism is on your lava. It doesn't look bright and hot like lava. I think you might have used paints that were too dull in shade.

Very cool! I too like the lava, I'm thinking the pictures are washing it out though. In one of them it looks like it's bright.
Easiest thing to do is take two pieces of white paper, get a box or something near a Window or light source, lay one down flat and the other touching but on an angle (prop it up on something). You'll get good lighting that way, just make sure the models are away from the light (so your back to the window or the light source). Also if you upload them to photobucket you can go in and tweak the contrast and brightness.

Thanks all!
Yeah no inkjet ironically, only a black and white color. I have enough to last a whole army now though!
The lightning effect was done thusly: a layer of jade green 'precious metals' paint (expensive as hell but beautiful colors and effect), then with a bit of the same paint mixed into some white to get a lighter shade I took a slightly wet detail brush and painted the first bits of lightning on (wet helps it not goop up, but too wet and it runs). If it is too wide, done worry yet. Then I picked out some small bits of the lightning with pure white. After that, I went back in with the original jade color and thinned the lightning (this picture is actually before completion and it looks even better now, believe me). It was a bit too loud for me, so I then very very lightly dry brushed the emerald over it which tinted and smoothed it out just a tiny bit.
As for the lava, it is actually very bright and it is just the pictures not doing it justice; Ill try out the idea for the photo booth/box and see how it goes.

Got a request for a view of the cleaned up lighting and managed to get a good picture of my assault captain as well; I may end up repainting his helm to match the librarian and make that the theme for HQ.

I found a beatup discount Sanguinar in the bargain bin and decided it was perfect for my uses, so I resculpted with green stuff and lots of random bits from the bits bin. This is the result and I'm very happy with it so far. As with the duality of colors and everything from the Hellbound Saints, he is represented by a half angelic and half hellish appearance. Just trying to decide whether I'm going to go with metalic colors as with the original sanguinar (one half bright silver, one half copper/bronze) or if I'm going to stick with the normal colors of the Hellbound Saints but with some flourishes such as flame-styled wing on the hell side. Still need some puttying on the weapon, but any thoughts?
