Resin casting questions.

Post by KfunnyE »

I'm starting to get into making molds and casting some bases and other items.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any tips, product info, or distributor info for materials.

I've been using smooth-on mold making silicone and their 2 part plastic material. I'm just looking for something that may be more economical. I can order more material from smooth-on but at $200 with shipping on 20 pounds of mold silicone, it's a little prohibitive. And I'm not sure I would need that volume of material.

I'd like to continue to do mold and casts without purchasing vacuum equipment if it can be done.

Thanks,
Phil

A short discussion on Alumilite here: http://www.bartertown.com/trading/viewt ... le%20back.
I also remember that Micro Mark http://www.micromark.com/casting-and-mo ... plies.html has some useful casting supplies.
Hope this helps.
Personal Guidelines:
PayPal or MO are both welcome.
No trouble with Canadian or overseas orders. Just please be aware of the extra time and postage costs involved.
Significantly lower rating ships/pays first - this goes both ways.
