A Reaver Titan Project....

Heya guys, I have been tasked with a really cool model for my painting service. I have been given a brand new Reaver Titan to build and paint. I have been looking forward to this project for a while, but I knew it would eat a huge amount of time to do it too. I also did not get any instructions in the box on the main model only on the two weapons. lol

This thread will follow the progression of my project, you can also follow it on my YouTube channel if you want to hear me talk about it, or on my Blog where I am also covering it too.

Here is the legs so far...

You probably can see the straw filling in one of the piston spots... It was one of the 3 groups of pieces that were not complete. The funny wording there is because I am missing 3 missile tips for the missile launcher... or maybe they do not send a full amount. Anyways, both were a simple fit; once the leg guards are on the legs, and everything is painted something internal like that pistol will not be seen really. I am able to add the top part if is able to be seen, but I will cross that road when I need too. With the Missile Launcher I just made 3 more missile tips with Greystuff.

The client wanted the Titan in a walking pose, if anyone ever wants to do this I highly recommend that you do not do this your first time out. Getting the legs right and level requires paying attention to a lot of factors, and then using slow drying glue to set without anything moving. This part took a long time in the end, I used a pillow and a specially crushed can of soda to hole the bend in the knee overnight. You do not want to use anything that speeds the glue drying speed up as it makes it more brittle, and that weakens the glue. It is very important that the leg glue is as strong as it can be because of the weight it will be holding.

I am taking other precautions by having it come a part when it is travelling. I repaired two different titans in the past that had dropped off tables, but that had also suffered damage while being put in the back of a car/truck and bounce around. The legs over the years of holding all of that weight weaken or if it is hot where you live. Because of that and I will talk more about that later I have made the model able to be split in half, the head to come off, and have each arm able to come off. I have even done a game function modification and made the generators on the top able to come off as they get knocked offline. However, again more on that later.

The Client wanted the motion of the leg walking but since I had repaired other titans for him in the past, we both knew that we wanted both legs weight bearing. He was thinking of a tank or hill under his foot, but I came up with something I thought was cool. My idea was to tell a story with a Titan crushing a water pipe, and having it spraying all over his feet. Within the water works which will be on 1/2 of the foot I will have supports going into the base as you see with that screw and terminator base.

Anyways, I hope you like it, and feel free to offer any advise I might take you up on it. :)

Thanks
Clark

Here is the final product. I have a link to my blog and a video on how this titan breaks down for shipping purposes into 10 pieces I believe and can be put together very quickly and securely.
