SpiralingCadaver's hobby thread

Hi all, decided it was finally time to start a general purpose thread for my project, here...
I'm trying to keep my commissions separate of my personal work, but if you're interested in the former, my advertiser's subforum is where you'll find those,
here, or you can find everything, with a bit more detail, on my hobby site,
here.
Starting off with a nice one, I've been working on a Sedition Wars during most of my free time, since the game came out:

Thanks!
Up next...
I'm switching to a white undercoat for everything, because I like how it looks way more than my older work, but before I do, I'm shooting my malifaux minis.
I worked on these guys all at (roughly) the same time. I'm planning on redoing them with a much darker feel, but am still happy with how these came out.

So good, and although I seem to have missed this thread last year, the second picture of your first post (the beast looking thing and the other... looking thing)... Look AWESOME! What models are those? Very well done on everything in this thread!

Thanks!
If you mean the pic with the 4 copies of 2 minis, those are from Sedition Wars, a game I personally like a lot, that suffered from a shaky KS campaign/release. I was actually originally considering using that color scheme on 'nids. A few pics of that scheme modified for bigger beasties (the second one is converted; working on a conversion on the first for the second copy I got of it).

Back to my roots, with Death Guard- I had around 4,000 points of Nurgle-themed Lost and the Damned at one point...
beginning again.

Very cool man. How long on average does it take to complete a guy? Your painting level seems to be intense!

Thanks!
It really depends... the above plague marine took around 2 hours (minus conversions) but I expect that now that I've gotten the scheme down, I can batch paint the rest in under an hour a model, but the guys in this post/below probably took around 2 hours each because of how counterintuitive they were to paint, and I have no idea how much time I put into the Nothing Beast (the big one) since there was a lot of blending. Rule of thumb, though, is that I try to keep grunts at under an hour and characters/mid-sized monsters at under 3 unless I'm working on a lot of weird effects or something particularly detailed. I think those Genestealers were probably under half an hour a model once I really got rolling (maybe more with the bases... I keep worse track than I should), and 3+ on the Broodlord, though that's a guess since I did the basic work on him while working on the other GS's.
A link to
more notes, as always.
