My first scratch made scene

Hello all!
I have been going through and sorting alot of models, and I have found alot of random stuff. I recently found a few models and decided to make my first scene!
Now, I have never made one of these before.. so hopefully it looks alright. I couldn't spend much time on it though as I am working on alot of commissions.. but I whipped this up right at the start of the new year. (I did start on them before the new year... so they can't count for BTMC points..

)
If anyone has any thoughts, I would love to hear them! Just remember as far as the painting goes, I didn't spend much time on them. So please don't criticize that. XD The base is what I would love input on.
Thank you!
Chris

The better a diorama is, the more it tells a story.
While I can see SOMETHING's going on, I can't really tell precisely what.
I see a female (a sorcerer?), a horse and a footman. It kind of looks like the woman might be casting a spell at the footman from behind, but what purpose does the horse serve?
Is it his horse? Hers? It's hard to tell.
If it was his, a conversion to have him leading it by a rope in some fashion would go a long way to support that.
Just some thoughts.
Eric
P.S. I like snow effects, fallen leaves & dried grasses/brush.

I think that is Aiyanna from Privateer Press
Yes, that is the model.
Sorry for not being clearer MM. I made the scene to be as if her husband..(The guy on foot w/ the horse) was going away to war. I tried to bring out dark colors in the MaA so it would have a war look.. and I made the girl in brighter colors just for the heck of it. (Well more so to bring out the bright happy home feel.. )
Hope that makes some more sense.. XD
And a rope/chain from the man to the horse would be a great idea.. but like I said I threw this out in a hurry as I didn't have much time to spend on it. But I will ad that later..
Thanks for the comments!
Chris

Hey mate,
First off, I want to say that the scene looks cool and has a real sense of drama to it. The contrast between the figures and the elevation of the female (who I believe is putting up her hood?) creates balance with the grouping of the drabber man and horse.
In terms of the narrative, a husband/wife relationship doesn't come through, largely because the female looks noble whereas the male looks common. Colour scheme, sculpt, and the aforementioned difference in elevations all serve to separate the characters, rather than bring them together. The male needs to be more heroic if he is other than her servant.
It isn't clear who the horse belongs to, largely because there is no colour coordination between it and either of the figures. The male looks like he is leading the horse, but clearly he's not, since the reins are on the saddle horn rather than in his hand--a hand that is over-armed with a strung bow--and no obvious quiver.
So--a good starting attempt, but I would encourage you to think of the diorama in the same way as you would an individual model--compose it with a sense of the whole, rather than making it up of entirely independent components.

Yes, that is what she is doing.

I see what you mean here, that's a very good point.

Very true again!

Thank you VERY much for all the tips Sorrow. That all is very helpful! Maybe sometime in the near future I will get a chance to make another scene.. but it's going to be a while before I can probably.
Thank you again for the super advice!
Chris

Putting up her hood.
Aaaaahhhhh...
I thought she had her hands to the sides of her head, as if concentrating (thus, the spellcasting supposition earlier).
