Hey didly hey neighborino's

Hope all is well at your end, i have come across recently that my paints have started to look the consistancy of porridge and need advice on what paints to get. I have been using GW and P3 for the most part but want to divulge into more paint brands as i would say i am an average painter and i find GW does not really have colours that blend to a nice transition.

The paints that i have concluded to after reading many, many articles seems to boil down to Reaper Master Series or Vallejo Model Colors.

The pro's and con's are as following:

Reaper MS:
PROS
- Excelent range
- Brilliant shades and contrast
- Thin Paints
- Glowing Reviews

CON
- I live in the uk, so only way to get is importing.
- Not Cheap, compared to Vallejo MC.

Vallejo MC:
PROS
- Good Range
- Very Cheap
- Reknowned Company.
- Also good reviews, and commonly used.

CONS
- The colour apparently dulls down after some time.
- Apparently easy to chip and not very sturdy.

So after my own research that is what i came down to, now i am really confused which i should splash my cash on. I have enough money to buy the 72 pack of vallejo, this one linked. http://www.maelstromgames.co.uk/index.p ... et_101_000

But the reaper as i would have to import as i live in the UK i could only buy 50 paints, and if it is this one which colours should i buy a must have colours basically.

Please could someone please assist me as i am actually pulling the last few strands of my hair out!

Thanks

Strigoi

I've had no problems with Vallejo dulling.

I've got a complete set of Vallejo Game Color paints that I bought at least 8 years ago. Most of the ones I'm using still today are from that original set (didn't paint much for a LONG time). Only now are they starting to congeal.

Have had NO problems with them dulling.

I've used the Reaper Master series since they came out with them. All the pros you listed i agree with. There is one place in the UK that i know of that carries them, I'll pm it to you.

I unfortunately have no comment other than... This may be the first time I have seen a Michael Buble reference here on Btown (although I am sure others have sang it).

Wow.
Really?
You're face-palming me over six words which (I had to GOOGLE to discover) were in the middle of a Buble song?

Oaf... We don't all get our Buble on like you do.

; )

BTW, that sentence might take on a new meaning, once you discover that -for fun- I always pronounce his name as "Bubbly."

lol thanks guys for the swift replies and really appreciate them all. Well about the buble thing i got it from a song which i dunno as it made me giggle inside so im sorry for the random banter :)

Anyway back on topic i think i am going to go VMC just for the fact its more widley available and apparently a thicker consistancy which i prefer as i want to thin it to my own liking.

Sorry, I guess the Canadian in me makes me think that everyone should know Buble and his pipes. I have been known to get my Buble on, ask Mrs. oAF. 8)

Yeah, sorry about that. Between William Shatner and Celiene Dion many of us US guys have an issue with Canadian singers. :P

And to bring this back on topic, another pro I have for the Reaper paints is their triad system. Makes it easier when you batch paint to not have to mix your base and shading each time.
