Conversion beamer... uh... conversion (40k)

So, I'm looking to convert two 40k Inquisitors with conversion beamers and... well, I've hit a snag. The only reference I can find for what a conversion beamer looks like was really old (RT I think) and looked terrible - like a large missile launcher.
How would you go about converting one? 4

I would use one of the new psycannons or psi things from the grey knights box as a base, throw it on in the harker pose. What other equipment is the model going to have? Can look for a better basis

Equipment - carapace armor, chainsword, conversion beamer
Possible I'll make power armor instead.

Codex: Space marines has been out for... how long now? 3 years almost? Without a conversion beamer being released. I don't think they are planning on releasing a model for it this edition, at least.

Ohhh if you have the psi-lencer from the dreadknight, I think that would make an awesome conversion beamer, maybe see if you can stick the front part from the inferno cannon on the front.

I thought this might give some good Ideas. I think a mix between necron weapons and some eldar bits would do the trick.

When I think of a Conversion Beamer, honestly my mind goes to the "Portal gun" from Portal. Even GW's vision of what weapons "look like" has changed dramatically... I'm sure we can all remember the plastic plasma guns that resembled a fish

It should look like this, obviously!

The main conversion beam problem is the size of the weapon in comparison to the size of a 20mm model.

Are you playing a scaled down version or something, or did you mean to say "28mm model?"

NO FEAR MY ARMY OF MIDGET MARINES - PCnote - I would have said little people if I were referring to individuals with dwarfism. You are a terrible person for calling them midgets, that is offensive.
Yea I meant 25mm as in their base size. I stand humbled and corrected

As we've seen numerous times that GW's changed the look and lore behind things, just because the Conversion Beamer was that size, doesn't mean it still would have to be. If I recall correctly (not having the 'Dex in front of me ATM), the Beamer is only available on the Inquisitors themselves... so it would make sense that it would be a smaller version of the weapon compared to the "Heavy Weapon" type, or an effective "Servo Harness" pack that could hold the weapon itself.
Personally I still picture something not much more bulky than a Plasmagun. I simply can't picture an Inquisitor 'dirtying' themselves to carrying a heavy weapon on his/her shoulder. They may use whatever weapons are necessary, but that's what your lackeys are for.
