Is it just me or do others find WM and Hordes minis, are alot easier to paint than GW... I have been knocking off WM minis for the last week like crazy.

It's all in what inspires you. If I have a block against something, there's no way I'll finish it. I have to wait for the mood to strike me and then act.

Just one of the many reasons I've left the commissions game. I can't force creativity very well. It feels too much like work. :D

It's not that I have a block... I do not know if it is less detail or a better flow to the model, or maybe just work better with my painting style. I literally took 15 minutes after priming to paint a ogre size model and it looks fantastic.

I haven't painted GW stuff for a long time, but I definitely found a squad of 20 marines or equivalent, complete with infinite tiny details and bits to be a bit intimidating :). I'm happy with the detail on PP stuff, although I do miss the minis being more free to pose and customise on some units. They seem to be improving their sculpts even more though, e.g. new plastic Trencher squad vs the old ones - huge upgrade.

I'm generally happy with the tradeoff that prices are lower per army (overall) and the baseline level of detail and pose quality is good overall. (With some notable exceptions: http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiirockram... http://battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiiGorax)

Maybe it's just a bit easier since they're larger and there are fewer models? I find it really motivating to sit down for a while and feel like I've actually made progress, compared to spending hours and hours and realize you've only finished ten of the 80 hormagaunts so far...

*shrug*

I've spent over 20 hours painting a warjack before. I honestly don't see a difference. YMMV.

The new Trencher box is just as metal as the old one. They just added a couple of new poses to the unit to break up the monotony when they made the 10-man box.

Oh I see... I guess for some reason I thought they would be plastic if they were moving them to the new "you can only buy max size units" standard but I suppose not :)

They also seemed like they were designed to drive us insane with their excessive mold lines. I really wish I could get Bastions in metal...
