Ruins of Osgiliath: ideas on how to paint them?
Anyone know what colors were used on the stonework to get them looking like they do in the picture? I mostly use Reaper master Series paints but don't mind picking up the GW paints if someone knows what colors were used.
Thanks,
Dave

You should email GW. They're pretty good about sharing info like that. They may even turn it in to an article if they think it merits it...lol

Looks like a fortress grey base, then white drybrush then a badab black wash then a furthur white drybrush.
Maybe just a codex grey then heavy Fortress grey drybrush then a light white drybrush.

Norse, thanks for the suggestions I'll give them a try.
I emailed GW and asked but didn't hear anything.

They answered:
Greetings!
Thank you for writing in to us! The studio first sprayed the building the Chaos Black Spray. Next, they over brushed Dheneb Stone over the entire model leaving black showing in the crevices. Then they dry brushed bleached bone over the ruins followed by a lighter dry brush of Skull White. I hope that helps!

Good to hear they replied on this one. Keeps the faith in their CS.
Dheneb Stone makes sense to me. That is my fave Foundation paint, I use it almost exclusively when going to white (unless a cool white is required).
Make sure you post pics when you are done yours!

Dheneb Stone.... i should have seen that Sorry Imp. Upon second examination it does have a bit of a tan look to it. I should have picked that out.

No worries, I only use the red and yellow foundation paint from GW so had absolutely no idea what to use and you did give me a start on colors to look at.
