Assault Marine Torso Question

Post by astrosmash »

A random lot of figs I bought included 10 Assault marines, but only 4 have the "correct" torsos- the other 6 had MK V torsos.
I only noticed the difference after I stripped, disassembled and reassembled everything :(

What do you guys think of using the MK V torsos on Assault Marines? Do the cables look enough like straps for the jump packs? Is this the kind of thing that incites nerdrage?

I couldn't find anything specific to this topic, any info would be appreciated.

I've seen it done quite a bit. I personally don't like it. That's my OCD talking though.

As an opponent, I wouldn't care.

As a modeller, I would care at the "8 out of 10 guys gotta have it.. the last 2, don't-care-need-to-get-the-squad done!" level
2+2=5 for sufficiently large values of 2.

If you don't have your Location listed in your User Control Panel, why not take a second and update it? It will let your trading partners know where you are from the beginning.

I use the Unofficial Porkuslime Trading Guidelines - if you have way less refs.. you ship first.

Folks I am awaiting a ref from.. Zack

Does not bother me one way or the other. I have about 30 marines with jump packs, and I think around 1/2 have the straps. The others don't.

If I had to go back and redo it, I would probably not use the strap torsos, anyways. Use the plain ones, and magnetize the backpacks, so I can run them on foot or in the air.

I don't think it's a big deal, if you're happy.
They're your toys and, in the end, you ar the only one that needs to be satisifed with them. Personally, I think the "strap" trosos look like crap, and I do not use them at all. I'd rather explain the jump pack attachment by making up some scientific/futuristic sounding method.

"Oh, yeah. The new Mark 3VI actually just attach to the user with a Magnothermic Gyroscopic Geode Coupling. It allows for greater flexibility in movement for the wearer, while actually being a stronger connection than the straps on previous Mark packs."

They don't make SW Skyclaw fronts with straps. Most of my SW jump troops do not have he straps neither does the new BA Deathcompany box. I know where you are coming from and it is nice to have a squad all the same. If someone calls you on it I would slap them for even commenting.

Youngwolf777 hooked me up with a few torsos so crisis averted ;)
(thanks again Dan)
I wasn't really worried about it until I put the question out there. Then it started bugging me when I was looking at them- mild OCD kicking in. Or maybe it was a good procrastination technique?
I really have to get this pile of marines assembled and painted!
