Here's what I got as an official email.
On October 1, the Postal Service will implement new service standards for First-Class Mail and Periodicals to increase delivery reliability, consistency, and efficiency for our customers and across our network.
Most First-Class Mail (61 percent) and Periodicals (91 percent) will be unaffected by the new service standard changes. Standards for single-piece First-Class Mail traveling within a local area will continue to be two days while time-in-transit standards will increase by one or two days for certain mail traveling longer distances.
The service standard changes are part of our balanced and comprehensive “Delivering for America” strategic plan, developed and being implemented to support our goal of consistently meeting 95 percent service performance.
Starting next week, USPS will temporarily increase some package product prices for the peak holiday season.
The increases — which go into effect Oct. 3 and will remain in place until Dec. 26 — will affect Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, First-Class Package Service, Parcel Select, USPS Retail Ground and Parcel Return Service.
International products won’t be affected.
Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan for achieving financial sustainability, calls for appropriate pricing initiatives.
The seasonal adjustment will bring prices for the organization’s commercial and retail customers in line with competitive practices and aims to provide USPS with the revenue to cover extra costs should holiday volume surge as it did in 2020.
Here’s a list of the temporary increases:
• Priority Mail, Priority Mail Express, Parcel Select Ground and USPS Retail Ground: 75-cent increase for Priority Mail and Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes and envelopes; 25-cent increase for Zones 1-4, 0-10 lbs.; 75-cent increase for Zones 5-9, 0-10 lbs.; $1.50 increase for Zones 1-4, 11-20 lbs.; $3 increase for Zones 5-9, 11-20 lbs.; $2.50 increase for Zones 1-4, 21-70 lbs.; $5 increase for Zones 5-9, 21-70 lbs.
• First-Class Package Service Commercial: Starts at $3.01 (current), 30 cents (temporary increase)
• First-Class Package Service Retail: Starts at $4 (current), 30 cents (temporary increase)
• Parcel Select Lightweight (Destination Sectional Center Facility and Select Destination Network Distribution Center): Starts at $2.55 (current), $1 (temporary increase)

Re: USPS price changes for holiday season.
In a somewhat related note, do they no longer offer First Class Package International to Australia? Had a guy ask me about some items, and the package was well under a pound, but USPS.com and PirateShip only showed Priority.
Tested by checking packages of the same weight to Canada, the EU, etc., all of those had FC available.
