Here's hoping all of our Japanese (or anyone affected by the quake/tsunami) Bartertown members are doing alright today.

Amen, oaf. One of my first thoughts was, "Oh crap, HZ is in Japan. . ."

I happened to be online last night when news of the quake started hitting the news sites. Although I know we have multiple Japanese members, HZ was the only one whose name came immediately to mind.
I immediately shot him a PM wishing the best, etc. When I checked my PM's today, I had a response from him.
Not only is he fine (he's over 3 hours from Tokyo) but, apparently, the news sites at the time weren't reporting everything quite right. CNN said that Tokyo was hit by the 8.8 quake and HZ informed me that the quake actually hit out in the ocean a bit. There's cause for concern about Tsunami's, but the actual center of the quake was not located in Japan.
HZ can give a better recount than I can, of course, and I'm certain he will. I just wanted to get something posted while I could.

Yeah, I was noticing that on the news as well. It looks like it was off the coast to the northeast of Tokyo.
Crazy to think that an earthquake, even a serious one like that, so far away can cause evacuations along the coast of Oregon.

I'm a good bit south of Tokyo so we didn't feel it here. But the north and east parts of the country, especially the coast, got hammered. The tsunami was the worst part. It was over 10 meters high in some places. I saw literal waves of cars on TV. Looks like sand dunes made of cars.

I'm not far from HZ either (Osaka). We're doing fine but watching it on TV is psychologically draining and very saddening. I'm net admin in a school on the 9th floor of a building, it was only 3 on the Japanese scale but it was SO long and like waves... I actually felt sick because the building was swaying for a good 5-6 minutes. The kids were pretty scared too
There are still a lot of quakes going off (and not weak ones). The nuclear power plant SEEMS safe too (Though Japanese government have a habit of hiding things regarding nuclear power).
Didn't feel like doing anything this weekend apart from stay home with my family and build my remaining Bretonnians. Odd times indeed.
Stay safe all.

This nuclear incident is getting properly scary. We're going to have a real life Fallout: Japan. I need to get my butt to a vault.

But what if you end up in one of those vaults doing creepy experiments, HZ?
Yeah, the news I heard earlier today about the plant was disconcerting. On top of that, they were saying that the nuclear energy bigwigs having to put so much focus on the one plant has led to the other plants not being brought back online, and thus power shortages. Are you guys getting hit with those rolling blackouts they reported?
