To necro this thread...

I was pleased as punch when I snagged the Army Box Space Marine Captain model from a guy quitting the hobby...for an absolute steal. He'd been holding it for ages and never painted it because it was LE. I've not painted it for the same reason!

I'd flip if I could get a non-counterfeit copy of the UK White Dwarf Subscription Marine Veteran. Jerkwads from Brazil and California recasting them have made me really leery of buying one without handling it first though.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead just to say that my wife bought me my "that mini" for our 15th anniversary. I guess I'll need to think of another one.

Congrats man... Looks like you got yourself a keeper. (Mini and Wife)

I was impressed when my wife wasn't upset, when my friend bought me a huge Greyknights army for a wedding present. (Proud to say I still got both)

Your wife loves you, mate. I was #2.

I'll have to content myself with that unreleased back banner pole....

Admittedly, the conversation went like this:

Wife: "You know that mini you showed me that you swore you weren't going to outbid s_o_r_r_o_w on?"

Me: "Yeah."

Wife: "Well, you won it. Happy anniversary."

Me: *jaw hits floor* "Umm... What did I get you?"

Wife: "A week at a resort, a new diamond necklace, and the Song of Ice and Fire RPG. You'll have to learn to run it because I want to play while I'm completing the gestation of our second spawn."

Me: *cough* "I love you."

Wife: "Damn straight you do. Now, stop trying to get in the last word and rub my feet."

A day in the life...

I'll post pics when the standard bearer arrives.

As someone on the outside of your little out-bid, love-fest trio... Mind posting a link to the mini or something?

Hobbyists fall into different camps, and I'm firmly in the completist group. If you're a member, knowing that there is ONE fig left to get, and that fig is ultra scarce (unreleased) makes it all the more attractive. At that point, it doesn't even matter what he looks like. In this case, it is compounded by the fact that he is the only standard bearer model though.

I might have even traded my Chaos Dwarf Juggernaut to get him--though probably not. :)

Did you already have the Back Banner, or no interest in it?
