Greating everyone,
It's been a long time since I've did a trade on here, let alone making a post. The title of this thread is from the lyric Corner by the band Staind, and it was something that came to mind when I got back into the hobby and decided to come back on here to relaunch my army collection now that I have a wife and a friend whom I consider my brother to get back into the hobby with. I'll admit that me doing trades on here was a hobby in of itself haha, but now that much has changed since I've last been on here, I thought it would be worth to making a thread to reflect on the years that went by when this website was one of the go to places to buy, sell, and trade. I even occasionally did *emoji poop* posts on here when I was bored young adult.
So why all the sudden did I come back and wanted to make a nostalgic trip with this post? Well you see, Bartertown and the miniature hobby itself served a very important time of my life. Not to go too much inti my personal life, but my dad first introduced me into trying 40k when 5th edition was near it's conclusion after the release of the Necron codex. Tau served as my first army and he briefly did trades for me on here before I eventually made an account and did them myself (With the help of my mother when I was visiting her or lived with her after graduating high school). Eventually I lost the ability to play with others since my last game with my dad left a very bitter taste as I was trying to learn 6th edition rules. With nobody to share the hobby with and no players at the small town I lived in, I had to shelf the 40k and Warmachine models for years. I no longer talk to my father for reasons I won't go into, but I still appreciate some of the little things he did for me, and without him, I probably wouldn't be in this hobby in the first place! I've forgiven him but moved on as despite being by his side for years when my parents divorced, it wasn't worth the despondency that came from our relationship and to honor his wish to be independent as a responsible adult.
During the time I traded on here tho, I've learned some trade skills that helped me in life and it was so nice to be able to see what each models had to offer without having to spend money on things I wasn't sure of. During Covid 19 I had this idea to get back into 40k when 9th edition was announced during the summer, I tried to reach out to our fellow advertiser HarveyDent (He seriously has grown his business!) to see what he had to offer. But then I was evicted when the apartment I was living in found a loophole and got lawyers involved to try to get me off of property as I was furloughed from my job, so again the hobby had to be put aside to deal with the unprecedented times we lived in at that moment. Finally after finding a new home and no longer living in hotels when I came back to work, the year 2024 started off great for me as like how 2020 was the yang to this year's yin.
A little after my birthday when my brother surprised me with the Eldlitch Omens box from our local game store, I've met my significant other when I was looking to get into the relationship, and one of the reasons why we got together was she recalled being a player during 4th edition back in middle school and was down to play the game with me! As of writing she still doesn't know what to play as since she has yet to see how 10th editon plays, doesn't help the rules just got updated not to long ago lol. My brother and I did a 10th editon version of the EO scenario and he was interested in Eldar, and me being a knife ear hater gladly sided with the ruinous power! Although he likes the faction, he preferred doing melee combat and found elf being too fragile for a beginner like him. Eventually he was interested in Orks, but unfortunately the greentide I once had was all gone, so I had to started out fresh for him. Then I remembered that I could still trade them on here, and was kinda worried how much has changed since I was last on here back in 2015. I still posted a trade ad, asking for some boyz and maybe some other unit for the Aeldari he made an attempt to paint on (Due to his poor vision as he's blind it was agreed that I along with my wife will gladly paint what he wants his faction to look like), I had a great trading experience after someone made me an offer and was happy to relive the moments that I did deals on here!
So looking back, I was grateful to be a part of this community and the wargaming hobby as well. It helped with what I was going through during that grimdark chapter of my life. Met some good people on here and it was what got me to find the love of my life. Overtime I will see about making new friends at our locals for casual games after us three have a sizable roster to have games to play, until then, you can bet I will be trading on here and occasionally support my local store. It's nice to see how 40k is trying to reach Gen Z and newer players (Although the female custodes without proper explanation did cause a stir to long time players), and just generate a fandom for people unfamiliar with the 41st millennium in general. As someone coming back to the tabletop during this time, I will gladly help others see what makes the hobby great and ways they can still enjoy the game, seeing as not much has changed with GW apart from prices and updating their range.
So now I am curious to see any Btown traders on here about how this site and the hobby affected their day to day life. Be it good or bad, recalling the time you had an amazing trade with someone on here or an important highlight that any wargame was responsible for, feel free to share it here! For a town I used to trade on, it all just seemed like yesterday. Thank you if you've gotten this far with this post, didn't want to share too much of my personal life but wanted to thank the Admins and everyone on here that made this site the way it is. I miss Eric, hopefully he's doing great in his day to day life as he was someone I did looked up to, taught me not to throw a tantrum on this website and loved how professional he and many others are when dealing with bad traders and scammers. Perhaps in another timeline I could have been a mod, but am currently content with me just being an ordinary trader.
Wishing you all the best,
Johnny

Couple of things to know when trading with me:
1. Lower rated users ships first (Me included). If you wish to receive payment first, you should ask before we make an agreement.
2. I accept Paypal and Venmo. I prefer to do transactions with the Goods and Service fee for both to ensure safety on my end and yours. Please do not send it as gift.
Other than that, I'm a easy going trader, so don't hesitate to make any offer, worst I can say is "No thanks".
