I really, really did not want to do this.

Here is a quick synopsis:

I sent disel24 a sealed Space Marine Battleforce in exchange for 3 boxes of Grey Knights: 1 box of termies, and 2 PAGKs.

My package got there just fine. He acknowledges it in the threads below. He supposedly sends out the package to me and gives me a tracking number that doesn't work. After a while, he stops communicating.

As you read this, please keep in mind the following from someone who actually works at the USPS:

USPS can not trace anything with out a number.

USPS Postal Inspectors don't threaten, they either arrest you or not. No one else can make the decision.

It's possible that he talked to the postmaster, if it's a very small area/office.

True USPS doesn't pay anything without insurance, in which case a lost/damaged package is HIS RESPOSIBILITY.

Th part about shrinkage is BS. No USPS employee uses the term shrinkage. Theft, loss, damage, yes. Shrinkage, no.

Thats a term used in retail, not USPS.

If someone was arrested, they know what he stole and contacts the shippers/mailers. Items can be held as evidence, it is a legal proceeding. But, the senders are notified.

I will be beginning legal proceedings on Friday.

No worries, seems like the postal office in my area has issues, not the first time in the last two weeks that the numbers for tracking have not down progress right away. Give it time is the best I can say, sorry man.

Hi Johnathan,

Well, sadly, the package did not arrive today. What worries me most is that unlike all the other Delivery Confirmation numbers I have gotten from people in the past, this one does not show up at USPS.com as valid. I'm guessing that they did something with the package at your post office, or they gave you the wrong confirmation number somehow. I hope you have the receipt.

Please let me know how we can track this down. I'm willing to provide as much help as you need. Obviously, if it shows up here, I will let you know immediately.

Talked to the postmaster and they are putting a trace on the box to figure out what happened. She did inform me however that since there was no insurance the usps wouldn't be paying if the box was lost or stolen, seems they have had an issue with shrinkage in the last bit and neglected to tell the customers. I'll keep you posted.

The tracer they are working off of has nothing to do with the tracking number sadly. It's some kind of inhouse thing, I'm supposed to touch base with her in a week see if she has anything. To me, that means that I'm touching base with her on Friday. The tracking number is right, that much is certain. The thinking is that someone has been skimming off the mail...a federal offense.

Hey man-

I went away on business for a few days but I was in contact with the Post Office. At this time they're bringing a guy up on charges for misrepresentation and theft. Seems he was skimming off the mail for a bit and the knicked a handful of packages that weekend that I sent out. They explained to me that they're going to be doing the best they can but it could be a few months before anything is resolved :/

Well, if that's the case, then I think it would be best if you sent the Battleforce back to me. I am willing to reimburse you the cost of shipping it back with delivery confirmation up to twenty dollars (after I receive it, of course). Alternatively, you could Paypal me $90.00, which does not cover my shipping to you, but it does cover the cost of the Battleforce.

I understand and empathize with the fact that you will be saddled with this, but I hope you can see this from my point of view. I also asked a moderator for clarification, and I think these are the two most equitable solutions, especially since there is a small chance you will be reimbursed within a few months.

Please let me know which option you would like to exercise.

It's been five weeks since the beginning of this transaction, and I think I've been pretty understanding. I didn't doubt your integrity at any time despite the fact that you gave me a tracking number that was never entered into the USPS system, you could not produce a shipping receipt, and your contact with the post office (and their replies to you) were atypical of USPS protocol. I still am not doubting your integrity.

But I must again request that you abide by the rules of barter town and the US Postal Service and remedy this unfinished transaction. In my previous message, I laid out two options that are acceptable to me. Frankly, I thought that those options were better for you than purchasing the Grey Knight boxes you owe me, which is essentially your obligation.

Please let me know by Tuesday how you plan to complete this transaction, or I will be forced to take additional measures. I'm sorry it has come to this, but I'm sure you would feel the same if someone owed you a hundred bucks worth of stuff and started to get slow on the responses.

This does not look good.

Sam (and anyone reading), for future reference, if they give you a DC#, but claim they can't find the receipt, ask for a copy of the Del. Conf. form. I mean, if they're not reading the DC# off of the receipt, SURELY they're reading it off of the form. Right?
Plus, if you take the package in to a clerk, the DC# will have a stamp on it, proving it's legit, rather than just a DC slip they picked up while they were there.

You did a good job of getting all the info in here (and -THANK YOU- putting it in chronological order), but without the dividers between posts, I was thinking that was his address.

You're right that you'd be in this place, still, but it would be one more nail in his coffin.

I know this guy, personally. I don't frequent these sites but I know that he did/does. The reason for his disappearance isn't anything as 'sinister' as it appears. He had a mental breakdown. Literally. It has been a very tough year for him and it got to him.

These are the things that I know were going on for sure:
family went from 4 ppl to 6 with kids early this year.
had to move out of his place with his family and move into his mother in law's house
couldn't make ends meet
his father passed away on his birthday this year
he found out that his oldest has Asperger's.

It got to be too much for him and he cracked. He's currently hospitalized and it will be a little bit before he can get out again.

Did he send the figures that you are asking about? I don't know. It could be that he THOUGHT he did and didn't. However he wouldn't just NOT send you the figures. He's told me about some of the trades he's done on here that are worth a few hundred dollars each. I can't see him welching on something that's only 100 dollars, that seems a little out of place to me.

So if you feel the need to follow this through with the authorities go ahead BUT I wanted to let you know that what is going on isn't vicious, it isn't ill meaning and it isn't theft. The man has mental issues that come first.

Just thought you should know.

Joined today with one post here. Not saying it isn't true that your friend is in a mental hospital but this seems fishy. If someone at the PO was caught stealing packages I wonder if there would be a police report to back that up.

As a postal employee, it usually makes the local news, at least in the paper if not on tv.

I've seen 2 people arrested in 24 years at USPS. 1 for stealing jewelry. 1 who was set up and took $$.

I have initiated a three prong effort.

I have a meeting with a local police detective on Monday. I am going to bring all of my records and file a charge.

I spoke with a Chicago Postal Inspector last week, but I need to follow up, as I was at work and could not get to the exact info.

And I am going to file in small claims court, but I need to see if I can do that prior to filing both the local and federal criminal complaints. I don't want to mess up protocol in any way.

Oh, and I had to put my dog down today, so I am motivated to gain some small bit of cosmic justice. This is not going to go away until I've exhausted all avenues or I suddenly see Grey Knights on my doorstep.

first let me apologize to the community for allowing this to go this far, it was never my intention to appear disingenious or shady. I've been a happy member of this community for over a year and have handled some pretty big trade, most recently I traded a VC army that was pretty high in value to a newcomer, this happened in tandem with Z here.

Second, Zero I'm truly sorry that I have let you down the way that I have. My medical issues got in the way of being able to resolve this in a polite manner and I forced your hand into putting up a BTR. I don't fault you nor i do hold any grudge about it, I would have done the same in your situation.

Truth be told, Xeno (chantry) was nice enough to come on here and give a bare bones description. I lost it for a bit. There has been a ton of things going on in my life in the last six months and they finally caught up with me. i had to be put in for psychiatric evaluation and was in there longer than i thought i would be due to the fact that my medicines weren't giving me the type of relief that I needed. That was not something expected and the reason for my long silence.

I am going to be putting Zero's Battleforce box in the mail for him tomorrow morning and I give my apologies. I will be posting the DC here, on this thread when i have it so that everyone knows that it's on the way, when it's received and then Zero, if he's willing, can come on here and notify everyone that it's arrived and in the condition that he sent it.

Again, i'm truly sorry and humbled by all of this. I didn't want any of this to transpire.
