Hello,

I still have not received the promised item. Do you happen to have a receipt or anything that shows you posted it on the 13th?

I see now that you have been reported as a bad trader and before I contributed to that thread I thought I would give you a chance.
Sucks to be burned on my second trade here :(

It sucks to get burned on any trade... whether it's your second, forty second or three hundred and second.

You should, however, be counting your lucky stars. You learned a $21 lesson. In the overall scheme of things, you got a bargain.

Check out the guys who got multi-hundred dollar lessons. Now, THAT is the definition of "teh suxx."

Not to downplay your claim, of course. You got hosed and that sucks.

No doubt I am grateful it was a fairly small amount of cash.

Even though this is a community, my lesson learned is you still need to treat everyone as an individual when it comes to trustworthiness. Oh, and always trust your gut. From the first message I was immediately suspicious and should have embraced that feeling more  .

Then, you've learned TWO lessons... A two-for-one deal (or is that two-for-21?).

This guy's in trouble. His address IS known by some people here, and I do not doubt that it will eventually make its' way to someone in the UK. If this kid doesn't talk to his mommy PRONTO, he's going to be in for a world of (legal) hurt.... and some ILLEGAL hurt, too, if the WRONG UK trader gets his address (note, this is NOT a threat. It is a statement of fact).

Hasnt he been pretty careful in choosing his trade partners. Only people from the USA, or afar. No one who will stop over at his house and say "Howdy!".

Exactly.

I never said it would be one of his victims.

Remember, dude... BTown is world fricking wide.

I know traders in the US, Canada, Mexico, UK, Japan and (outside BTown) can cover China, S. American countries, Afghanistan, Iraq and Aus., as well. If I had the time to spam all of the UK residents I know, I could probably manage to find one who would be happy to assist. So could you. So could any of us.

Let's face it... If you got a PM asking you to contact someone in YOUR HOME TOWN or a town within, say, 30 miles of you who had been scamming people on here... Would YOU make that phone call? I would.

That's all I was saying.

It is amazing how small the world really is. Btown is Big Brother!

Off topic but a funny story...

I was in Los Angeles for a wedding. Talking to a guy in a bar and he says I know John XXXXXX from Canada do you know him? This is funny because some Americans think Canada is a bunch of small igloo villages with the population of 200-500. where everyone knows each other. Funny thing is I actually knew the guy and play hockey with him every Friday. Totally blew my mind.

Well, that's the thing about Btown. We really are worldwide. Joe, games somewhere, somewhere someone will be angry over fellow gamers getting hosed. I just hope for a decent outcome.

And..... I'm in the military in DC, I can fly "Space A" to the UK for $45 round-trip....

If the total this guy took from us is more than $1000, I think I'll take a little trip in January and track him down... I'd love to show up on his door with a folder full of evidence to show his Mum, and tell her, "oh hi, I was just on my way to the police station, and thought I might show you what your son has been up to."

I also served with some Brits in Iraq (Basrah is a great place for rockets...) and got to know a chap who works in the Home Office in London, the Home Office is the equivalent of the Department of Homeland Security here. He does clearances and background checks. I might call a favor in from him, maybe see if we can make his future job prospects a little slimmer....

You know what they say about payback...

I have his mailing address as I have sold some items to him. I'm not worried about giving it out but would prefer to give it to an Admin.

Well Riddler, that's the thing I don't understand. He has bought from others in the past, so why start the bad behavior now?

It may take some time, but we will get the info... and put it to good use.

- A registered letter to his mom.
- Local law enforcement.
- Perhaps contact the local church or parish.
- Contact the local schools.
- Wait for him to register at a local event.
- Follow him to other fan and hobby boards.
- I'm sure there might be a local news agency, with a new reporter looking for a good story.

I am guessing that he first got money from people, then quickly turned around and bought items with that. That is how he got the good referrals.

He joined on 11-10, I had sent him money by 11-11 and he got his first referral on 11-15 as a buyer. All his positive feedback is for being the buyer, never the seller.

It makes sense. Scam people to get some money, then burn it all asap.
