Not sure how to Proceed (Trader52)

So I have spend hrs reading all the BadTrader forum so I pretty much know what to do and not to do.

Here is the situation:
I negotiated a trade with Trader52. I traded him a NIB Vindicator with a pair of Termie lightning claws for a NOS Defiler.

Here are the PM/Emails

Well if I bought a Vindi 40$ took all the parts out and bubble wrapped them, and you did the same (but I need the instruction manual).

Would that be a better sell

That sounds like a trade to me.

I have the instruction manual and the decals (somewhere).

The only stipulation is that you'd have to ship first. If that's okay with you, let me know. I have to head off to work for tonight, but I can get back and answer any questions and provide an address later tonight if you're still interested.

Let me know.

Final trade:

You:
Vindicator - 'out of the box' condition (all parts included)
1 Pair Plastic Terminator Lightning Claws

Me:
Defiler - 'out of the box' condition (all parts included - as well as instructions and decals)

Lets go with that, and if you can think of something you need (I really only have things like ... berserker legs, some arms and bolters, and extra Chaos Lord parts - heads, trophy racks, tabards, books, familiars, etc) then we'll work that out before I send back the Defiler. I'm very open to adding something new (and small ) into the trade as we agree upon it.

So let me know

Lets keep everything as is then, it is still a good deal and no reason to complicate it.

I had to place the sprues in 2 Large envelopes, the sprues are individually wrapped in bubble wrap. I am going to tape (very well) the envelopes together and there is NOWAY they could seperate. I also have the pair of LC in the package as well, sorry I forgot the Power Fist though.
I will be taking this to PakMail today, if thier rates sux then I will go with USPS.

YES! I did receive the vindicator about 3 days ago, but I have been SO busy and SO tired this week that I couldn't even write this message to you. I know it's a weak excuse, and normally I would think so too - but I took a couple extra shifts this week to make some rent payments, and I just cant manage it.

But I'm not out of this week yet. I'll be mailing your package on Saturday/Monday. Basically, as soon as I can, I'll mail it out.

Thanks for shipping the vindi to me so quickly, I appreciate it. I'll reciprocate the favour

Cheers,

Russell

Okay, I now have some breathing space.

Defiler will be shipped off tomorrow morning by a relatively fast method (without rbeaking my bank ). You'll likely receive it within a few days.

Cheers!

Now there are still 3 Emails unopened in my out box so he hasn't read that I haven't recieved the Defiler. I hesitate to call him a bad trader because I always give a benifit of the doubt. It also could be a postal issue. Today I realized that I could click on his ratings and get his personal email so I sent him this via hotmail.

You haven't check bartertown in a while to check your email, but I haven't received the defiler yet?

This has been almost a month now since stated shipped. How or what can I do?

So, you've pretty much done everything right.
Kudos to you for that.

I'd have suggested putting his trade name in the subject line, but that's not the worst thing we've ever seen here. LOL

Honestly, I wouldn't be too worried yet.
You are DEFINITELY not over-reacting by posting this. I want to stress that first.
I did want to give you some things to keep in mind, however.

It's not uncommon for people to spend a few weeks making trades, then not return here for a month or more. Not everyone is in it for the community aspect. The fact that he hasn't received your PM's isn't too worrisome to me for that reason.
Additionally, he might not even be checking his email to see the email notifications that he HAS PM's... or he could have it turned off.
That makes me want to give him the benefit of the doubt, as well.

Here's the kicker... It's a Canada/US trade.
many traders (in both countries) won't make these trades anymore for what could very well be happening to you...

A month delivery time is NOT unheard of across these borders. Actually, it's fairly common. There are traders who tell 2 and 3 month stories, too.
My worst was about a month and a half.

So, in short, your tendencies have all been correct... Get the Bad Trade info out there, but still openly give the benefit of the doubt. Granted, its poor trade practices for him not to follow up to be certain you've received the stuff, but still... Keep hope alive.

I can't vouch for the guy but, hopefully, this info will still help alleviate any stress you might have.

Maybe/Hopefully someone knows him & has his phone # that a Canadian trader can call him & give him a hollar for you. Just to check up (not as a threat).

I appreciate the reply. I didn't want to post the name in the subject line, again trying not to lable him (as of yet) as a bad trader.

Well thanks for setting me at ease, however mine only took 4 days to get to him. I sell and buy on ebay and when I recieve a package I immediatly post feedback and notify the seller I recieved the product. And I do the same this as a seller. I contact the buy to ensure they have recieved the product. I don't want any LACK of communications.

Thanks and I hope I recieve something soon, LOL but I aint holding my breath hahaha

Hey
Yeah as MM said,i wouldn't be worried as yet,its really odd with stuff coming from Canada,i have a trade with a good trader from canada,he posted our trdae at about the same time a family member of mine posted a package from Australia,I got the package from Australian on the weekend, still haven't recieve the package from across the border!

Sometimes it can go really fast and other times really slow
Hope everything Goes well.

I Buy and Sell on Ebay regularly and what these people are saying is very true,, Canada post at the best of times is a nightmare, Anything I purchase from across the border ususally takes a month or more and the same happens when Im sending to people over the border and thats using airmail,, I dont even want to think how slow it would be using surface mail ( Shudder ).

Just my 2 cents:

I just completed a US/Canada trade and I think it took 3 weeks for my package to get there and another 3 weeks for his to come back. It was long enough, that I had forgotten the trade (it was mostly bitz going both ways), so it was a nice surprise to come home to terminator lightning claws.

You've already labeled him a bad trader by filing a Bad Trader Report.

*shrugs*

IF he is a scammer, others need to atleast be aware of it.

You might be jumping the gun a bit, but it doesnt take a month to send an email. Shipping between the USA & Canada is horrible, but this guys communication stinks on ice. He could at least stay in contact with his trade partner. Eh?

time in replys

yes that is the problem the shipping time is not unheard of but the lack of communication is the issue.

I disagree but hey everyone has an opinion, whether it has merit or not. I haven't labled him a bad trader UNTIL I leave feedback, and if you would have read the above comments "I hesitate to call him a bad trader because I always give a benifit of the doubt. It also could be a postal issue".

I just its just odd to me that mine didn't take that long, and again I have heard nothing from him.. So I will drop this and wait I guess another 2 weeks.

Not to argue an unneccesary point but the name of the forum is "Bad Trader Forum".

Posting the BTR is pretty much a Bad Trader Label regardless of the feedback you leave (though leaving a good feedback with a BTR kind of defeats the purpose.)

Anyway it's filed now for everyone to see and cannot be edited, deleted or removed in anyway (so please don't think that if this goes ok you will simply edit or remove the thread because that would get YOU a suspension.) Trader52 will now always have a bad trader report tied to him regardless of the feedback you leave, once started never stopped.

If you feel that this may still work out ok then maybe you shouldn't have filed a BTR?

That's what I believe Insidius is getting at.

Well someone has edited it, because someone put the users name in the title.... I didnt.

I edited the title; the community should be aware in these instances. -insidius

Call me a stickler, but if somebody ships something off and is expecting a shipment in return, and then doesn't check their messages to make sure that things went well for a full month, I'd call that a 'bad trader'. Not 'Bad Trader Feedback' worthy, but definately worth calling them on in a public forum.

Ooops let me clarify. A mod or admin may edit or delete depending on what is or is not needed and/or if the BTR is warranted or within the rules.

Normally we edit to remove certain information that may or may not pertain to the BTR (like threadjacking) or edit information IN because the user themselves cannot edit or delete.

In this case, the title was edited to show the user name that this BTR belongs to as is the norm for this forum.
