Purchase gone bad - reveriestudio

Post by DeadMilkman »

I contacted this guy a couple of weeks ago to purchase two airbrushes from him, sent the money via PayPal, and have heard nothing from him since. On the upside, the payment hasn't been completed yet (only cleared), but I can't get in touch with him.

PMs:

Hello! I'd like both of your airbrushes, if they are still available. Do you still have any of the accessories that came with them, if any?

I have PayPal immediately. Let me know what the total will be, and I'll get it out to you today.

Both have never been used and are still in the original cases with all their accessories. That would be $40 for the brushes and $5 for shipping so your total is $45, my paypal email is tippmansniper208@hotmail.com and your package will be sent as soon as payment received.

Payment is on the way. It needs to clear my bank account first, so I will not expect shipment until that happens. My shipping address is:

<address>

Thanks!

Hey! You should have gotten the money by now. Have you had a chance to ship the airbrushes out? Please get back to me and let me know whether or not you've shipped it. THanks!

Hey man. Just pinging you a second time. Please drop me a line ASAP and let me know what's going on. You've got my money. I'd hate to have to start a bad trader thread on you.

Thanks.

When I didn't get a response from that last message, I started looking for more information on this guy. PayPal has the name on his account as Nik Kosobucki. I also sent the following email to both the email address' I had for him:
to t2tknkout@yahoo.com,
tippmansniper208@hotmail.com

subject Bartertown - Airbrushes
mailed-by gmail.com

Hello! I'm DeadMilkman from Bartertown, I'm trying to get into contact with you regarding the two airbrushes I sent you money for last week. I see you haven't checked your PMs, so I'm hoping you check your email more often.

The payment of $45 has cleared as of 8/10/2007, sent via paypal to tippmansniper208@hotmail.com, from WesleyWright@westat.com. Please contact me ASAP, if only to let me know you're not ripping me off. If you've decided not to sell the airbrushes, that fine, PayPal does refunds very easily.

Please get in contact with me via this email when you get a chance.

Thanks.

Wes
The only response I got back was that the hotmail account is dead. I'm also contacting PayPal, to hopefully get my money back.

Hey Deadmilkman,

This e-mail and name, t2tknkout@yahoo.com, has been noted as a Scammer on Dakka Dakka.

Here is a link to the posts on this Fraudulent person:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/Forums/tabid/ ... fault.aspx

If I were you I would place a Dispute right now on Paypal and get your money back before he clears out his Paypal account.

So to all, if you have had any dealing with the following names, and e-mail addresses be aware.

Nik Kosobucki (possible name)
t2tknkout21 (Dakka Dakka screen name)
t2tknkout@yahoo.com (e-mail)
tippmansniper208@hotmail.com (Paypal account)

I e-mailed the guy to get a sale going. I also stated on my e-mail that since I have a higher rating, I expect him to send first. I never got a reply back. The first signs of possible fraud. I lucked out. Hope you guys get your money back.

Shoot.
I guess I figured this was inevitable when Nik did not respond to any emails or messages after I sent him payment.
I also sent "Nik" a paypal payment for $55 for some LE figures he posted.
I have started the paypal dispute process. It's a shame, because I was just starting to get into Bartertown trading when this person came along.

I have had good luck here in the past, and I hope to have good luck in the future, but this puts a damper on things.

I ask for some patience here, as I am doing all this for the first time.
Here is the link to reveriestudio's post:

Next is the emails and messages I have sent to him concerning our transaction:
My first message:

From: Adunaphel ( 16 )
To: reveriestudio
Posted: Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:33 am
Subject: LE Ultramarines standard
Is this the Skulz LE Ultarmarines standard? The one with the metal base?
If so, I will take it. Let me know.
Thanks.
Karl

I sent him an email that said the same thing and then sent another when I took another look at his items. He replied with this (his only email or message to me).

All of those are left, and yes that is the one from the skulz promotion with the metal base. So the minis would be $50 with $5 shipping your total would be $55, my paypal email is tippmansniper208@hotmail.com and your package will be shipping when i receive the payment

thanks much,
Nik

Hello,

I PMed you to let you know that I am interested in your LE Ultramarines Standard Bearer.
I am VERY interested in this figure if it was the Skulz figure with metal base.
Just send me your paypal account and I will send you payment.
I am interested in the other LE figures also (all 5):

LE Ultramarine Standard Bearer (unassembled) $10
LE Psyker (unassembled) $10
LE Space Marine Captain (from winter ‘99 40k box set) $10
LE Chaos Marauder (unassembled) $10
LE High Elf Army Standard (unassembled, from army box) $10

Let me know which of these figures that you have left and I will send you the paypal payment.

Thanks

This email was recieved from Nik at 11:00 am August 8, 2007.
I sent the paypal payment to him at 11:03 am.

I sent him this email on August 10:

Hello Nik,

I was emailing you to ask if you had shipped the 5 LE GW figures?
Just checking to see how things were progressing.
Thanks in advance for any information.

Karl

I PMed him on August 13:

Hello again,

I am still waiting to hear if you received my payment and whether you have shipped the 5 LE GW figures?
Please let me know how it is going.
I would hate to think that I chose a bad trader here on B-town.

Thanks in advance for any information.

Karl

And this one on August 14:

Hello again Nik,

It has been a week since I sent you the $55 paypal payment for the 5 Limited Edition figures that you listed on Bartertown.
Please, just send me a quick email letting me know you got the payment and whether you have shipped the figures or are going to ship the figures soon.

Thanks in advance for whatever information you can give me.

Kalr

I was considering emailing and PMing him one more time when I came across this post.

Aw crud! I know better than to pay first! I just got lazy, and wanted to speed up the transaction. Shame on me. I have already initiated a dispute with paypal. We'll see if it does any good.

(Note this is the e-mail address to which I sent his payment. It came back twice as closed. I then sent the same message to the t2tknkout address.)

I guess I was partially lulled by his first response that the dragon was gone. Seemed an unlikely response for a scammer. But, perhaps a great tactic for a practiced scammer.

Le sigh. I've filed a dispute with PayPal, I suggest anybody else who has dealt with this guy does the same. Multiple disputes against the same seller in a week will hopefully get them to decide the dispute in our favor, so we can at least get our money back.

He got me too. I will post proof later!
If I don't get what I think I am getting you will be sending me money for me to ship it back to you. So be very certain I know what I am getting.

Also more of what I don't want doesn't make up for not getting what I agreed upon.

Either will result in negative feedback, posting of our records in the appropriate section of bartertown, and possible mailfruad. Otherwise don't trade with me.

Hey there bartertown folks. I got scammed by this guy over at Dakka. But, it seems I am narrowing down the search for this Jerk. As soon asI can verify a few details I will be glad to post his home and cell phone numbers as well as his home address.

I will also give you the # for the local poice department at that time as well.
