Bad Trader Report - Xalintz (Partial Listing Sent)

Apologies for the length of this report.
I let this go on too long, and the result is a very long trail of communications.
I would rather complete the transaction and walk away neutral than besmirch Xalintz's reputation here on bartertown, but he seems uninterested in resolving the discrepancy.
On Sunday, June 17th 2012 I (Pygmaelion, Jeff Pigula of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) PMed Xalintz (Jason Herman of Blacksburg, Virginia) about a large lot of Privateer Press Khador models he had (full list in chronological communications Jun 18th).
After a bit of wheeling and dealing, we came to a grand total of $733 shipped Parcel Post including some Mercenary figures and Sabol Cases.
Payment was made On the 20th, he acknowledged receiving the funds, and received a complaint that paypal fees were taken out. I sent an additional $22 to cover this ~shortfall~. I did so, feeling that the lot was still worth $755 rather than backing out of the deal.
The package was sent on July 28th and was received on June 7th. I engaged in many transactions in this time frame, all of which completed satisfactorily in much less time.
Upon opening the package, several promised models were missing. The foam in the cases was a total loss due to the unresolvable stink of pet urine. I did take photographs of the unpacking.
In summary, 12 figures and odd parts missing, and the presence of (most of) 3 unexpected figures and parts. More exact details can be seen in the Chronological Communications section on July 07.
Since that time I’ve received several promises to either make up the missing parts and figures, or to ship out a substitute for the estimated ~$80 of missing product. He shipped out the substitute to an incorrect address on or around August 6th, and then on August 16th, said that he mis-shipped it to the wrong address and would send it to me when it returned.
I have not heard from Mr. Herman since September 19th, though I have done my best to maintain contact with him weekly, either through Bartertown, or his work /paypal email address. I have given more than ample time for this gentleman to make this transaction right, and fully expected the difference between items promised and items sent to be repaid or at the very least discussed to satisfactory end.

I enjoy inexpensive shipping as much as the next guy, and that usually means parcel post or priority from the good old post office.
Speed isn't a big concern at the moment, so whichever method proves cheaper works just fine for me.

while i'm at it, are you interested in the 4 sabol bags i have as well? i've got 3 of the small ones (platoon) and 1 motor pool. They've been used so they aren't brand new.
The small ones would be 10 bucks, and the big one would be 35, if you want those i could mail them in a seperate box with the foam that was used to carry the khador. Foam would be free. Shipping on that wouldn't be much as it'd be mostly air

^ That's the "fee schedule"... but I think they've deliberately made it difficult to find an advantage.
It looks like no matter what I send this as, you're going to take a 2.9% hit, plus 30 cents for the privilege.

They don't explain what a "small seller fee" is using numbers, just a vague description that I can't turn into a dollar amount.

I just sent the fee-thieved money through as a "Personal - Other", because that has been indicated as the proper means to avoid fees.
Apparently the "use Ebay Checkout" function is another way to reduce fees, except that we'd have to have used an eBay auction in order to do it, which incurs fees of its own.
Let me know if this transaction gets to you intact. If it does, I'll be sure to use this method from here on out for all my B-Town transactions.
Additionally, I have no problem having paid 755 for this lot. You've thrown in so many extras and have been very accommodating, It's still a deal at that price.

Most of the things got here in good condition.
I expect a bit of gluing and pinning and straightening when I get items secondhand.

If it helps, the Demo Corps (leader +2 troops) that did arrive are painted an earthen brown.
If the squad was painted as a unit, the spare 2 might be similarly pigmented.

The Man-O-War were left at the gaming store because I had finished painting them. However they closed... and i've been trying to find someone that knows how to contact them. I put together a spreadsheet, one page for the Khador lot, one for the mercenaries (since they were priced separately)
Mercenaries are simpler to deal with:
At $50 for the lot, you had given me a 60% discount off retail.
I'm down 2 models that retail for 9.99 each, but got an unexpected one of the same value.
Considering the extra pieces that packed in (the eIrusk model and the stormtrooper body), we can call this a wash.
The value of those bits, minus my cost to complete the figures (bits service) puts us pretty well square with this lot.
The Khador list is a little heavier lifting:
at $600, you gave me a 50% off retail price basis.
If I were to replace the missing models at 50% off, that would cost me $67.70
The missing bits can be replaced via the Privateer Press store for $13.50.

I suppose that's the nature of the business. I worked at a local game store myself, and know that it can be a pretty brutal business. If that stuff is already gone, then we'll never see those particular figures again. It's doubly unprofitable for you to try to replace them at MSRP, so I don't think either of us want to go that route. We'll sort it when we figure the found parts bit.

I let this go on too long, and the result is a very long trail of communications.
I would rather complete the transaction and walk away neutral than besmirch Xalintz's reputation here on bartertown, but he seems uninterested in resolving the discrepancy.
On Sunday, June 17th 2012 I (Pygmaelion, Jeff Pigula of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) PMed Xalintz (Jason Herman of Blacksburg, Virginia) about a large lot of Privateer Press Khador models he had (full list in chronological communications Jun 18th).
After a bit of wheeling and dealing, we came to a grand total of $733 shipped Parcel Post including some Mercenary figures and Sabol Cases.
Payment was made On the 20th, he acknowledged receiving the funds, and received a complaint that paypal fees were taken out. I sent an additional $22 to cover this ~shortfall~. I did so, feeling that the lot was still worth $755 rather than backing out of the deal.
The package was sent on July 28th and was received on June 7th. I engaged in many transactions in this time frame, all of which completed satisfactorily in much less time.
Upon opening the package, several promised models were missing. The foam in the cases was a total loss due to the unresolvable stink of pet urine. I did take photographs of the unpacking.
In summary, 12 figures and odd parts missing, and the presence of (most of) 3 unexpected figures and parts. More exact details can be seen in the Chronological Communications section on July 07.
Since that time I’ve received several promises to either make up the missing parts and figures, or to ship out a substitute for the estimated ~$80 of missing product. He shipped out the substitute to an incorrect address on or around August 6th, and then on August 16th, said that he mis-shipped it to the wrong address and would send it to me when it returned.
I have not heard from Mr. Herman since September 19th, though I have done my best to maintain contact with him weekly, either through Bartertown, or his work /paypal email address. I have given more than ample time for this gentleman to make this transaction right, and fully expected the difference between items promised and items sent to be repaid or at the very least discussed to satisfactory end.

I just sent the fee-thieved money through as a "Personal - Other", because that has been indicated as the proper means to avoid fees.
Apparently the "use Ebay Checkout" function is another way to reduce fees, except that we'd have to have used an eBay auction in order to do it, which incurs fees of its own.
Let me know if this transaction gets to you intact. If it does, I'll be sure to use this method from here on out for all my B-Town transactions.
Additionally, I have no problem having paid 755 for this lot. You've thrown in so many extras and have been very accommodating, It's still a deal at that price.

Got the package today.
Most of the things got here in good condition.
I expect a bit of gluing and pinning and straightening when I get items secondhand.

If it helps, the Demo Corps (leader +2 troops) that did arrive are painted an earthen brown.
If the squad was painted as a unit, the spare 2 might be similarly pigmented.

I put together a spreadsheet, one page for the Khador lot, one for the mercenaries (since they were priced separately)
Mercenaries are simpler to deal with:
At $50 for the lot, you had given me a 60% discount off retail.
I'm down 2 models that retail for 9.99 each, but got an unexpected one of the same value.
Considering the extra pieces that packed in (the eIrusk model and the stormtrooper body), we can call this a wash.
The value of those bits, minus my cost to complete the figures (bits service) puts us pretty well square with this lot.
The Khador list is a little heavier lifting:
at $600, you gave me a 50% off retail price basis.
If I were to replace the missing models at 50% off, that would cost me $67.70
The missing bits can be replaced via the Privateer Press store for $13.50.

While the missing bits are full cost, it's far less expensive than trying to complete the models any other way.
You will note that I have a full Sorcha in there.
The way PP does the bits, I can spend $11 to get the variant sorscha with the missing arms, and another $2 for the weapon, or I can have a regular sorcha for $3.50, I'll take the regular one.
If you refund $81.20 through paypal (personal / other, if that worked out in reducing fees), that reverses the payment for the figures that were missing, and completes the figures with missing parts. I don't have any great desire to pick up Menoth, but I appreciate the offer.
I can send you the spreadsheet I worked this out on if you'd care to review it.

Re: Game store liquidating other things on eBay
I suppose that's the nature of the business. I worked at a local game store myself, and know that it can be a pretty brutal business. If that stuff is already gone, then we'll never see those particular figures again. It's doubly unprofitable for you to try to replace them at MSRP, so I don't think either of us want to go that route. We'll sort it when we figure the found parts bit.
