Man, this is really ugly. This is exactly the sort of reason why people shouldn't be so uptight about shipping first if their feedback is low, even (and, might I say, ESPECIALLY) if money is involved.
Eric, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you cash out a check, don't they hold it against your account in case there's a problem, so really all you're doing is making a withdrawal of sorts until the money comes in from the issuing bank?

So, I hope no one else bought that stuff.
I also live in PA, so I will also have a few problems trying to get my stuff.
I also bought these items. I live in canada, so legal action won't be so easy for me. I did pay via paypal. So I will try to get my money back.
My cut has improved your voice!
Dude... you've got about 34 hours before you are totally screwed.
For those of you who are currently being taken for a ride, here is what I have found out:
There are two addresses and two aliases for Tech9/Bladerunner:
There's the Maximillian(o) Martinez alias, listing the address as: 11083 Stone River Drive, Alta Loma, CA 91737.
There is also the Simone Dailey alias, listing the address as: 143 Lemon Avenue, Alta Loma, CA 91737.
Now, the thing is, Alta Loma isn't really a city. It's a part of Rancho Cucamonga. The property at 11083 Stone River Drive is owned by Patricia Martinez, and has been since 1992, so my guess is that Max Martinez is a real name, and Simone Dailey is probably the alias. It also means that they've owned that house for 14 years, so they probably aren't going anywhere any time soon.
I can't find any information on 143 Lemon Avenue, so I'm not sure it's a real property. At least, it's not a residential property. Might be a work address; I'm not done with the business listings yet.
What I do know is that the phone number for the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department is (909) 941-1488. I am currently working on locating a phone number for Max/Simone.
Like I said, I have nothing but time, and know people who know people...

Well I am trying to get my refund from paypal, hopefully we can get something back.
I follow the idea LOWER references ships/pays first. It keeps things safer for anyone, as I would never desire to have to start over again. Nor would I want to loose the trust of any fellow gamers. That is how I ended up with my reference collection! I always follow through with my deal!
Well, Caleb...that is *most* helpful!
That address is registered to a D. Daly. I am currently in possession of the phone number for that address.
I'd rather not post that in public, but if anyone who is owed cash or merchandise would like it, PM me, and I'll dole it out like candy.
Methinks a couple of phone calls in the next few days might shake the tree a little...

Wait, hold on, we should get a list of EVERYONE and what they are owed either money-wise or models-wise, and have a representative like a lawyer call. Then give the list to the local police department of all the people and all the items/money and see what they'll do. We shouldn't all just make harassing phone calls. Especially since I think these are a couple of really scared kids, they just need to learn the consequences of their actions.Xtapl wrote:Well, Caleb...that is *most* helpful!

My information:
Douglas Craig
bartertown: judgedoug
Paid $100 for a High Elf army. I received about 60% of what I paid for.
I would either like the models that I did not receive yet: High Elf Army Book, High Elf White Lions Hero, High Elf Hero with Sword & Shield, High Elf Mage, 2 High Elf Great Eagles, 2 High Elf Shadow Warriors
Or I would like a $40 refund (since I received 60% of what I paid for)

Well, fine...but it won't be as fun as scaring the pants off the kid myself....
My Name: Christopher Bell
Bartertown: Xtapl
I paid $110 for the following:
Tomb King Army book
1 Setta Special Character Model
1 Tomb Prince on Chariot
2 Lich Priest ( 1 is mounted)
4 reg. Chariots
12 heavy skeleton Horsemen
15 normal Skeleton Warriors armed with Sheilds and Spears
15 tomb Guard
5 tomb swarm bases
I have received nothing, and no correspondence with Tech9 has been returned in the last week and a half. Ideally, I want the models, but just getting my money back would be fine, at this point.

woah!
i've gotten an e-mail from Simone/Max, or whoever he is.
"No not at all..I sent your stuff...It should be there..In like a couple
days..Thats not bad news is it?
I have the DC for you..You want it?"
we'll see what i get.
if i don't get everything promised, i'll either send it back, or pay him for what i accually received.
this is quite a turn of events.

That's really interesting, considering he sent you my models.
Then again, I have a package waiting for me at my apartment office, which I will be able to pick up first thing in the morning. I am intrigued to find out what's in it, since I am only expecting two things. A box from old Simone, and another deal I made which would have to be ON FIRE to be here already...

I never ship first when trading models for models. Don't even ask. Simultaneous shipping or no deal. I don't care what your rating is.

If he HAD a D.C., he would have gone ahead and sent it.
Typically, no.Eric, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you cash out a check, don't they hold it against your account in case there's a problem, so really all you're doing is making a withdrawal of sorts until the money comes in from the issuing bank?
Now, if you are...umm... KNOWN for having problems with items returning against your account or overdrawing, etc., the bank might do that. On amounts as low as we're talking about, though, it would be abnormal, even under the STRICTEST of circumstances. Most large banks won't THINK about holding the item if it not in the (multiple) thousands, though I have known SMALL banks to start at $500.
Normally, though, they do not.
The way it goes is:
You go to your bank, give them the item (check, money order, etc) and they give you the funds (either by cashing it or making the funds available in your account).
They send the check to the bank it is drawn from to collect the funds.
If that bank gives them the money... Cool.
If not, they come back and debit (take away) the amount from your account for what is referred to as a "returned item" (which means just what it sounds like... the item was returned as unpayable),
Now, if this guy cashed it at, say, a check cashing business, then they only gave him a PORTION of the funds and kept the rest as a fee. When this item is returned, it will come out of the CHECK CASHING BUSINESSES account at their bank and they will try to hunt this guy down for the funds.
Basically, that is how it works.
I could hypothesize and go off on many tangents about how's and why's, as well as different things that might happen in different scenarios but, for the purposes we're describing, that is basically how it goes.... And besides, most of you would get bored. LOL
Eric
Lower rating? You ship first.
