Certainly. Please post some of the emails between you and Ticknor, Barnard, whatever his name is, that show a bartertown-based transaction which should have taken place.

You can open your email program and just copy-paste the messages (with headers, they're those funny letter-number strings at the top or bottom of the email) into a forum post.

The rules of posting are the Announcement on the top of the topic list.

Thanks!

Heh, like I said, good luck with 'rallying the troops.' I tried it way back when and only got 1 or 2 people together. What happens is people give up and don't care anymore and the scammers just keep on scamming because no one is reporting them.

I hope people step up to the plate this time, though. Keep us informed on what happens.

Also, take a look at my other posts on this guy and use the information in your reports. Be VERY Thorough.

I am trying, can you give me your contact info. I know you got your stuff back, but they need to know of ANY others who were scamed by this guy.

I called the Milwaukee PD and they sent me to the IFCC website to file a complaint. I plan to also try the other places you told me.

I know for a fact Justin Barnard is not Jason Ticknor, I have found proff of this and if anyone needs it feel free to email me and I will be able to help you out. This is important because if you just call the police they wont be able to do much if you just give them a list of names. They prefer if you have exacts so please email me when you prepare this and I will be able to assist you quite a bit.

Not to argue your point, but why did he then use like 3-4 of ticknors aliases? It may be a friend of his doing it, but it's just to fishy.

Just a reminder

Post by Morpheous »

Just a reminder.... There are a few of us in Wisconsin that are legit. So please dont condemn the whole state frrom being traded with. Seems like the majority of the more horrific scammers are from Wisconsin. As for myself it makes me sick. Even more so that these scammers live close. If there is anything I can do to help, like providing names and numbers to local Hobby Stores where these people could play and "fence" scammed items, please let me know.

My two cents. Keep the change.

He got me too...well partially! (LONG)

Post by Crushar »

So Barnard, or Ticknor...whatever or whoever he is also got me, partially.

I was trading with him for his Flames of War stuff, he had an extensive list.

12 Panzer IVs
6 Panthers
6 Captured T-34s
4 Panzer IIIs
2 Tigers
1 Elephant (ferdinand)
3 STUGs
also I have some troops in half tracks that I used with the army.

Here is what I offered with:

Subject: Re: I am interested....
First off that SUCKS! I JUST traded away a well painted Chaos 40K army.

Secondly, are you interested in some Chaos Terrain? I have some of the bonestuff from Armorcast (www.armorcast.com) it is well painted and consists of 4 mounds of bone, 1 Bone bridge (freaking huge), 2 bone walls, and 1 bone obilisk. I was just going to put them on eBay but if I can use them to reduce the price for this lot then why not offer them.

So finally, are you willing to spilt this lot up? That will make a difference, I want the whole lot but I don't know if I will EVER field 12 Panzers in one battle!

Dan
Here is how the trade went down with specifics:
I figure my stuff is worth about $110 ($40 for the bridge, and $40 for the other stuff but that's not painted) since they are all painted pretty well (I can take some pics if you like).

Now your stuff is worth a lot!
Brand new your stuff is worth $8 a tank for everything but the Tigers and Elephant which are worth $10 a tank.

What I figure that comes to is $246- out of my price range.

NOW what I am thinking is that a fair price is about $5 a tank and $8 for the big boys. What that comes to is $153.

Now what I am offering is this, my terrain (for $100) and $53 plus I pay shipping.

Let me know what you think.

Dan
Well since I was buying from him I thought I would send the money and terrain first, just being a nice guy (and stuid to with over 30 trading refs- Check my last name Barnaby). Well the day I send I get a PM that states:
mrmondaynitee wrote:that should be more than enough, can i get your address one more time, i think i deleted it on accedint.
I try and PM him and nothing so I send an email to mrmondaynitee@yahoo.com. Now stay with me because this is where it gets WEIRD!

I got a response! BUT the person (still do not know how it really is!) doesn't know anyting about this, or me! I explain, just killing time, I think. Turns out the guy is interested in what I lost. Here are a copy/pasting of my emails with him up until he sent out my stuff. This is backwards as replys are so start from the bottom and work your way up!

*sigh*

I am the guy that was given this email address when I bought something from "Justin Barnard". Do you know him? He might be using other names. He lives in Milwakuee and I have found out that he likes to use his friends names and identies to steal from people on the net. Selling items that he does not have.

His real name I believe is Jason Ticknor.

So what did I get? Well yesterday I got the package and I recieved SOME of what I traded for, all in CRAPPY packaging! But in general I am short 15 tanks! So go ahead and put me on your list. I will email you as well with my contact info.

Let me say this though. I do NOT know who this Rob Van Damn (mrmondaynitee@yahoo.com) is. I do THINK that he helped me in getting SOME of my stuff. I do not know their relationship but I think it's time that we put an end again to this kinda stupid behavior!

Re: Another part of the scam

Post by tankfan »

I'm wrapped up in this too. I just emailed GreatWolf7 with my info.

Right now I'm out $125 if he cashed the check (after losing the first one, which I put a stop-payment on). Items were an outright buy of Flames of War miniatures.

Here's the basic deal from email: (Yes, Bartertown did go haywire when it was switching servers, and yes he has horrible spelling.)

yes yes, i am sorry, i was out of town for a convention, out tomorrow morning, sorry for the delay

150 for the hole lot, which is quite a deal, cause the number of tanks by them selfs cost more than that.

Tho it will be cheaper if you want them all together, I will cut a good 10-20 off the cost

All I can suggest at this point is file with the IFCC, the USPS, and call the detective in his town.

Sadly, just about everywhere mail fraud is a joke, especially when it comes to cyber crimes.

People continue to get away with *edit* like this because there are really no laws in place for this kind of thing yet.

Slowly, that is changing though.
