Never had this happen so unsure what to do next...
Somehow in all these years I haven't had a goof here or on ebay, but now I have. I bought this:
http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-Quiet-AIRBRUSH-A ... .m14.l1262
But they sent a model with no tank.
Check his feedback, Im not too hopeful for a response to my message asking for it to be rectified. This model is pointless to me without the tank, so I really need it swapped. What can I do if he doesn't?
Thanks for any help!

I'd say take it up with ebay/paypal.. assuming thats how you paid. It does not say tank not included. And in the specifications it does list info on the tank. Plus its in the picture, and its not stated its not included.
I follow the idea LOWER references ships/pays first. It keeps things safer for anyone, as I would never desire to have to start over again. Nor would I want to loose the trust of any fellow gamers. That is how I ended up with my reference collection! I always follow through with my deal!

Yeah, nothing on the ad would indicate it is only for the compressor sans tank. If it was for just the compressor, it is a nasty example of deceptive advirtising.
With a feedback rating like that I would assume the customer service is actually fairly good. Give them 24 hours to respond and then file a complaint with ebay directly.

Emphasis mine. . .copied and pasted right off of the add. Hopefully it's a simple issue of he removed the tank to better package it, and then just forgot to slip it in the box. With a rating that high, I can imagine it's pretty high-volume, and mistakes happen. I would agree, though -- only give him one or two days to respond before filing a dispute with PayPal. Though he may have a 99.7% positive feedback rating, that still leaves about 318 dissatisfied customers. My immediate reaction would be to say it isn't a ripoff, but you never know -- maybe every few thousand customers, he rips one off and hides behind the rating. Not to make you paranoid, or anything. . .High Performance Airbrush Compressor with Tank
Like I said, hopefully it was just a mistake and will get rectified quickly. But don't wait too long before you take action. Worse comes to worse, high volume also means he should probably have money in his PayPal account, so if PP does side with you, there's a chance you might get some money back.

I think you are looking at the wrong thing. The listing says, "New Quiet AIRBRUSH AIR COMPRESSOR-Hobby-Craft-Free Hose". Doesn't say with tank. The picture in the ad lists several different compressors. Some with tanks, some without. Regardless, I'd contact the guy and get clarification. It just may be that he forgot to pack the tank. However, it does tell you how much it weighs, so does it weigh 11.5 lbs? Two ways of checking that, the package it came in and using a scale.

Ah yes. . .I did the thing I caution my students against -- I read until I felt I had the information needed, and stopped reading instead of reading the whole thing.

It says it is model 20T throughout though, which means with tank. I received model 20. Says 20 on the box too.
Im pretty sure it would come already attached to the tank as well.

Under the spec lines there is a reversed out box that does say it does not include the tank.

I think The_Grey_Knight is talking about the box that says..
I don't know enough to know if the "compressor" includes a tank or not..Auction is only for the Compressor Model shown above.

Does it only say 20 on the box? Is there a "T" beside it? I'm betting the "T" identifier stands for tank.GMMStudios wrote:It says it is model 20T throughout though, which means with tank. I received model 20. Says 20 on the box too.

Well I'm looking at the ad right now. the highlighted/reversed portion says Auction is only for compressor model shown above. The model shown above is the TC-20T, if you did not get a TC-20T then it is not the compressor you purchased. I the features and specification it fully includes the information for the model TC-20T.
Now if there is a TC-20 (I'm going to assume sans tank) then the ad should be for a Model TC-20, not a TC-20T.
If the seller is to lazy for find an appropriate ad, then they should CLEARLY state that the tank is not included. The listing of the specifications and features of that particular model best be the one you are getting.

What am I missing?
The text withing the auction states, numerous times, that a tank is included:
I say SNAD him. With a 106214 rating, he has or will have the funds available for you to claim.
After you SNAD him, make him fix it (on HIS dime) and do NOT release the SNAD until AFTER he makes it right and you check to ensure that the unit is FUNCTIONAL. Once you release the hold, you cannot place it back again.
