Space Hulk being re-released

Post by kturock »

I worked into the FLGS and I heard the guy there talking on the phone and saying to add the new space hulk to the order.

Anyone know anything about it's release?

I think this is the link to GW's Space Hulk page:

http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod210009a

It will be released on September 5 and will cost $99. It is limited run. So, the early bird...

It looks pretty nice, but I am not sure if the game is worth the high price tag.

Hope this helps.

I was looking forward to it.
Despite GW's protestations, I figured that this was the new release.

Damned shame about the price, though.

Took at look at the page. 99$ for a handful of mini's and cardboard gameboard.
I've purchased games far more expansive for far less.
Battlemist
Twilight Imperium
Sid Meier's Civ, the boardgame
This is definately off my want list.

they did the same thing with ta;isman. it was re-released 3 times, each time with a priece increase. last one was $75. I bought one, not at $75, but the 2nd release and it was missing one entire set of colored pieces. when i called GW they said to bring it back to the store and have them send it back. i bought it online and therefore got nothing.

same great gw service as usual.

Uh, 11 termies (1 librarian), 22 genestealers (1 broodlord), plus the tiles. 5 regular termies cost you $50. $99 doesnt sound too pricey, especially when they have unique poses. Only reason I'm not getting it is because they are Blood Angel termies. Ugh!

Keep in mind those are on different bases ;) So if you base your minis to work in 40k they wont fit ont eh standard space hulk board :P Not to mention if you look at the unpainted pictures they use that wierd hard shiney red plastic for all of the minis. I guess though the point is, back int he day we used space hulk termies in our 40k games.. But the cost of the damn space hulk game was based on that game, not on the value in another game of the minis in it. They could have reached out to old schoolers by doing the minis in a different scale so people wouldnt buy them as a lossleader to beef up 40k armies and priced it more reasonably vs what they have done.. I still want this box set.. but Im going to ahve to sell something to get it.

Are they bigger than 40k termies? I haven't seen a side-by-side comparison.

No they look like they are in scale, but they are one piece casts done on a narrow base to fit the SH corridor tiles, not on standard bases.

That's no biggie. You can just put the termies and genestealers on regular bases, copy and upsize the tiles, and viola! Perfectly sized SH game with models that can be used in 40k.

Hi,

The internet rumours prior to the release were better then the final result. I was expecting 3d plastic tiles, resized to fit the new terminator bases. Their solution, reprint the tiles in the same scale using baseless terminators.

Very sad,

Mine's ordered. I just plan on magnetizing the bases and then swapping them onto 40mm bases as needed for 40K. Quick and painless. The models are really characterful so I'm quite happy. I might try filing off some of the BA icons and painting them as Red Scorpions so they kind of fit with the Anphelion story arc.

I dont really play 40k any more but that set of models looks pretty awesome. Rebasing stuff isn't a big deal to me so it looks like $99 bucks is a good deal for that many models assuming they hold scale nicely.

I personally did not buy the first SH release so I will be buying this one. The minis in it are a pretty good deal. Not a great deal but not bad. I am personally doing mine as Lamentors, for a Babab Campaign I am planning. They are a offshoot of the Blood Angels, so the iconography will fit. Most good board games are in the $100 price range and do not come with minis that I can use in a 40K army.
