Definitely a rough day for the big stars. Say what you will about MJ in the last fifteen years or so, but he was one HELL of a showman.

Hopefully, this is the end of the "wave." They say it comes in 3's.

QFT...

His impact on the music industry is far-reaching. Thriller alone was a certified 28 time Platinum seller. Platinum status is one million records for those not aware. Twenty-eight million records. The mind reels. When you think the man was only 50 years old it makes it all the more sad.

Actually, there were four movie stars that died in the past week. Ed McMahon, David Carradine (Kung-Fu fame), Farrah Fawcett, and now Micheal Jackson.

I was thinking Carradine was more than a week ago.

I guess it just seems that way since there have been SOOO many stories about him since he passed.
Probably gonna be the same with MJ, too.

Ed McMahon and Michea Jackson were movie stars?

They're just "entertainers".

I think you need to re-check the internet movie database (IMDB). Both have starred in movies.

That is correct. MJ was the scarecrow in the Wiz. Ed on the other hand, I have seen him in movies, just having a brain fart at the moment.

Just because someone has been in a movie, they're not a "movie star".

Optimus prime....now there is a movie star...heh

Any way this whole really got me thinking about him. Over the last 20 years he really became a pariah but back when I was a kid I can still remember the hysteria and popularity of the the J5 and later MJ. I remember my sister working her but of to get enough money to buy Thriller and then waiting in line to get it the day it was released. I remeber that in school everybody had those Thriller jackets with all the Zippers and crap.......heck...I even had one...sad but I was a kid. Well here is something I posted on another forum that I think sums up my opinion...

Whats all this talk about wiZards? I thought OZZy was the wiZard of rock. Anyhoo I saw on yahoo that he had been taken to the hospital then a couple of hours later we were having drinks at a local bar and it hit the news. Everyone was like...wow. Pretty much reminded me of when Kurt Cobain died. I was doing the exact same thing. Sitting in a bar having drinks and blamo it hit the news......now that I think about it same thing with Nixon.

Well whatever he did he was a freakish ghoul. I was looking at some interwebs slidshows showing his transformation from a normal looking black kid into....whatever it was he became.

Whether he mosleted kids or not. I for one am of the camp that he was a child molester but I wasnt there and didnt personally see it. In the end its all accusations even though I have always beleived it to be so.

Either way he declined into one of the greatest celebrity freaks of all time both in body and in behavior. Was it fame that changed him orwould he have been just as much of a freak had he been one of the nameless masses? I suppose its hard to say. One thing is for sure he was completely incabable of hiding what he was on the inside even transforming his appearance to the point of disfigurment. He would have been better off using his millions to get some real help.

Micheal Jackson will go down in history in my mind at least the the poster boy for child celebrity exploitation. How many billions have been made by the people the made him what he was? probably many many times over what he actually ever put in his own pocket. How much more will even be made now of exploiting his life. And now he is in the grave. Its probably where he wanted to be all along.

At first I cheered and clapped. But now that I have thought about it his whole life was just sad. A child superstar the grew into an adult superstar and he was so busy doing the bidding of those hell bent on profiting from his talent that he never realiZed that he had become and adult. He probably never really learned the ability to make choices for himself and that probably really was a major contributer to his decline into whatever it was he became. Based on that I cant help but feel sorry for his in alot of ways. He never was given any option to learn for himself or shoose his own way. He was in the end not really even human he was a product...a commodity that filled the wallets of others.

Whatever attrocities he actually commited he has payed for them in death.

I think he should be understood.
