Offiicial References Bug Thread

Any post which isn't strictly notifying a problem will be deleted (woo, great job, this is fun, etc. etc.).
ref_post.php
Bug List:
1. The reference view page is broken and displays the wrong values. Watch the score you see when you post something.
2. Countries/Regions/States are incomplete. This field really does not do much and will be eventually removed.
Wish List:
1. The notification email should be more descriptive.
2. Your score should show up in about 100 places it does not (PM, profiles, etc.).
3. Confirmation page should show what you are confirming.
Anything else?

A couple things:
Emails don't show up for either side in newly posted references, but they are there for old ones. (I'd guess this is related to the incorrect ratings you mentioned, because the 22 rating (edit: i guess the number isn't fixed at 22, it seems to be increasing) that everyone gets is a link to rating page with a blank email instead of a link with the poster's email like it used to be.)
On my system (Firefox 3.something on Linux), the comments box is very narrow which makes it very hard to read over what i've written. With a scrollbar, it's only wide enough to fit 1 or 2 words per line.
More of a wishlist thing: Since there's a 512 character limit on the comments, can you add a "character's remaining" display?

Do those of us using the "subsilver2" layout need to switch back to something else? I get the following error each time I try to go to the refs page.
On a related note, there is no link in the "subsilver2" layout to leave refs.

It seems that the in the "show ref" portion, it shows everyone who has given you a ref at the same ref score. (i.e. I gave porkuslime a ref for a sale we did. It shows my feedback at 524 or somesuch, whereas I have like an 8 or a 10 at this point)
**Edit: I swear I know how to file a bug report. I'm using Firefox build 3.0.3 on a Windows XP platform.***

I think this is a bug .....When I click on check refrences I dont seem to have the option of searching by user name... am i doing something wrong or do i need to search for their usernames under the member section find a post of theirs and access it that way

(I thought it would be easier to keep track of the answer this way)
This has been the case for quite some time, now.
The best way to search by Username is to click on the Members link in the top right, find them in that database, and click on their Username. that will take you to their profile page. On the right hand side, there are links that will take you to their posts. Go to a post and click on the number next to their name. Note that you CAN try to run a search in the boards, but I almost NEVER have any luck that way.
YES. It is not the optimum way of doing it. YES. You can occasionally run into situations where the person hasn't posted recently enough to have a post show up there. Unfortunately, it is currently (and has been for some time, now) the only way of looking it up without their real name or email address. -- Eric

Don't know if I missed something, but I posted a Good reference for Greaseman and he posted a good one for me. We each got a PM saying a good reference had been posted, but neither of our number went up, or the reference is showing when you look up the user ID.
Edit - just showed up next to my name in the post, but still doesn't show when you view my references.
Thanks

Actually, that's not true.
Your References:
ref_view.php?user_id=2198
His References:
ref_view.php?user_id=13515
They're both there.

But it doesn't show here:
http://www.bartertown.com/ref/index.php ... @yahoo.com
I went to Check References, and then entered my email.
So it is just available by clicking on the trade ranking next to the user ID in a post, correct?

Searching using the "Check References" never has been the best way.
The best way to look it up is to use the link that is attached to the number next to your username.
Otherwise, you need to use the NAME option AND the email option (separately) to get a good idea.

OK, what is the difference between this thread and the other references thread?
