Hello all,
I'm working on the upgrade to phpBB 3.0.1. The new software has boggled my mind and so I'm still trying to wrap my head around it.
I've got the test version of the board on my PC, when I get further along, I will upload it to the server for all to see. No ETA yet, sorry.
Complete on Test:
Upgrade to phpBB 3.0.1 and convert old posts, PMs, etc.
Integrate ITL
Topics ordered by original post date
Left to do:
Update the Menu Bar (gallery, chat, etc.)
Non-Critical items:
Fix Chat Room
Add groups/race for rankings
Make the ITL pretty
Did I miss anything?

I know I have harped on this for like the past 3 upgrades but if this new one supports it mandatory locations would be fantastic (especially from a dropdown menu of actual places...). Thanks for your work on this site through the years!!

Maybe a requirement, similar to a Software's licensing agreement, where new users have to check that they've read and understand the rules of Bartertown?
If it's possible, it could, perhaps, integrate the Forum rules AND the BTR rules.

There are a ton of updates and upgrades with the new system, we'll have to play with it to see what is possible for sorting/deleting/etc.
I know you can change the user agreement when you first register, I'll put the rules in there.
I forgot about the location thing, I will add it to the list, I've got a few ideas.
Thanks,

Excellent.
Thanks.
That will make the Mod staff's job (especially Linrandir) fa easier when adjudicating rules violations. "I didn't know" and "I'm new" will no longer be valid excuses for leniency.
Now that they ever were... It'll just make it easier for everyone to ridicule, now. LOL

Since there is a "Mark All" and a "Delete Marked" get rid of the "Delete all"
Other wise when you click either "Delete Marked" or "Delete All" and the message pops up "Are you sure you want to delete these messages" it should show you a list of what you are about to delete and give you a chance to uncheck any you want to keep.
Also being able to sort you mail by header would be a pretty good addition as well.
Ex. You finsh up a trade with someone, you click on the header bar to sort your messages by who they are from or by subject, scroll down to the persons name, mark all of their messages, delete marked, and your ready to go.
Thanks for your time,
Excellent idea because I just accidently cleared out my entire inbox of about 20 messages doing that on accident just the other day......I was hot!
A very good idea

I also recommend that as a requirement, having just done exactly the same thing with over 30 messages about 6 in process trades...just hope none of them go wrong. Delete all is too risky for a 1 step action. Select all then delete marked at least gives you a chance of avoiding catastrophe.

How will this affect the other side of the site? You know, Warhammer40k side?

The upgrade will be this weekend!

Woot!
Location required should help with that mess. What is the "Add groups/race for rankings"?
This won't be like Jurrasic Park, where Samuel Jackson says, "Hold on to your butts." Will it?
I guess I better make sure I have the addresses for my trade partners.

Over on warhammer40k.com, you get to choose your group (orks, eldar, etc.) and if you've just started, you're a grot until you get a high post count where you become warlord, warboss, etc.

Is there a problem with "Mark forums as read" function?
I tend to scan the forums for new threads, read anything of interest then just before logging off globally "mark forums as read" and log out.
However since the upgrade any individual posts I have not read re-appear when I log back in with the washed out red symbol of a new post. The only way I can stop it is to individually mark each forum as read as I leave it and then afterwards click "mark forums as read". Either that or open every single thread whether it is of interest on not.
