A Lot of new traders

It seems we have a lot of new traders on Btown. The problem is most if not all don't have any ratings yet. Not there fault obviously, but it puts veteran traders in a bad bind. That would be to figure out honest from dishonest. Note I am not accusing nor pointing a finger at anyone. Just trying to figure out how to work with this to everybodies satisfaction.

Any thoughts on the matter, RB

No (or low...usually less than 10 trades) rating = they ship or pay first. Don't make any exceptions. Don't be mean or hateful, but be firm in your decision. That should solve your problems.

Bolster... don't. Just don't.

Don't be THAT person.

If their grammar bothers you so much that you feel the need to publicly correct them and attempt to humiliate them, just leave. If your ego is so fragile that you need to attempt to bring others down in order to bring yourself up, just leave.

I don't care if your rating is 6 or 600. It's unnecessary. Just because there's a modicum of anonymity on the internet doesn't mean that it's okay to abuse it by being rude.

... and don't say that you were just joking. True jokes don't bring harm or hard feelings.

Ask if they have an eBay account and email them through that account ( ironic coming from me ).

you can always check the good trader reporting section. The post feedback section has been down since the sites changed, and I would have another 8 on my rating if it wasn't.

Hello, I agree. My rating is only 8 but have probably made another 10 since the new BT started so all my feedback has been in the GT reporting area as the posting board is not up yet. So if a more advanced rating trader asks me to send/pay first no problem and I am now asking the same of the new guys.

In trades I do an almost simo send deal. I'll ask the person to ship first if he/she has no ref or very low ref (say under 10). They send me a Postal Confirmation number and I send them my package either that day or the next.

This is on small trades of course. On really large ones I do have to wait for the package. Such as a recent one I did in Canada.

One thing we all need to work on is posting refs when we do a trade. Yes, I know the ITL is currently down. I have 4 or 5 refs I need to post when it comes back up. What I'm talking about are those people who have a high post count, make you ship first and than do not leave a ref after you leave one. Man that steams me. I can think of about 6 users on this very board that I have left refs for but have never recieved one in kind.

MagickalMemories, you are my new hero. As one who can not spell his way out of a wet paper bag I appreciate your response. I blame the public school system for our lack of grammer ability. Oh, did I mention that I'm a teacher?

Good gaming/trading to all,

I recently had a problem with "someone" who refused to ship first, he had (0) rating. He used the excuse that i had not made any recent trades and he didnt trust me. I am quite disturbed by the rescent "new" traders here on b-town. Just because i havent done much in while is no excuse. I have a solid rating and refuse to send first to a (0) rating.

Me? Hero? Nah. A-hole is more like it.

First of all, let me say that I'm about as much a hero as Lobo of the comic book fame is. <G>
I'm more of a rogue agent with a sniper rifle.
A vigilante, I think.

Honestly, poor spelling & poor grammar are, IMO, 2 separate subjects.
I'll own the fact that I cringe when I see simple misspellings and word swaps (their/there, then/than, etc.). I deal with it, though, if I can understand what people are saying.

"It's not there fault."

Okay. That sentence is not grammatically correct. Can you understand it? Yes.
That's the MOST important thing.

What I will NOT excuse, though, is the simple lazy act of ignorance, such as...

im not sure what i want email me a list of what u got an i will prolly get back 2 u in 2 or 3 days with a anser o an by th way do u stil hav the SM or DoW or BA or DA or DE army i mite liek that too

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO it makes my skin crawl.

BTW, I'm okay with typos, too.... after all I'm likely among the worst (big fingers & small keys do NOT make good friends).
BUT, FOR GOD'S SAKE, PEOPLE... USE FRIGGING PUNCTUATION!
DOESN'T YOUR KEYBOARD HAVE THOSE KEYS?

It ain't gotta be perfect. For heaven's sake, a simple period and capital letter now and again go a long way!

When I see a statement like that above I move on. Incorrect words and improper grammer (come on, who of us really uses proper grammer?) I can live with. That weird hacker stuff gets to me. I'm guess I'm just too old.

No I shall let sleeping dogs lie and return to topic at hand.
