Customs Update (still no package)

While back I asked a question about the length of time something might take to get through customs. Many people replied that it might take a while.
Well it seems that the sender (won't say the persons name as I don't want to smeer anyone yet) can't send a package that can get through customs. He claimed the first time he used the same box I sent him but did not remove the labels and customs returned it to him. This last time the package again bounced off customs and desptie the tracking saying it was returned to him he claims he did not get it. Here is a link to the Canada Posts tracking. If you could take a look and give me your opinion I would greatly appreciate it.

Please keep in mind...
1. The deal was being worked out since last October
2. I sent my army in November
3. He has since sold the army I sent him
4. He has asked for an investigation
5. Tracking says it was returned but he claims he does not have it
Thanks

Weird, I just had a Package come from Canada and Recieved it within 5 Days of Shipping. Seems a Little Odd that it would bounce off Customs More than once.

That link says that the package was successfully deilvered to the receiver, which should be you.
HOWEVER, it also says that the package was delivered to the receiver and the city says Winnipeg. So unless you live in Winnipeg, I'd be wary of that.

You're the lucky one Dante. I bought a bunch of stuff from another BTowner in Canada. He shipped on the 8th. It's now the 27th and I still haven't received it. He sent it with tracking #, and when I try to check the tracking #, it just says that the package was received at the sort center on the 9th. Not a single update or bit of useful information in almost 20 days.
KBolster, I'm a bit confused by your explanation. You said that HE (the other Btowner can't send the package to get it to go through, and yet you say he says he hasn't received it. Is it a package FROM you to him that's lost, or a package from HIM to you that's lost?

Sorry I was unclear on that. Yes the package is from him to me. he recieved my army in November 2005. As you can see it sat somewhere for a long time and he requested it to be sent back to him. Canada post claims it went to customs but they either denied it or something. He lives in winnipeg. I live near Syracuse New York. So odviously I did not get it and he claims he did not get it.

Do you think it's possible that the package was sent to an address in Winnipeg (say, a friend of his' house) and he gave you the tracking number for it, and is trying to claim that it's 'lost in the mail?'

That's possible but if that where the case then why would the package go to MISSISSAUGA, ON from Winnipeg, MB?
Wierd isn't it?
Normally I would be going bonkers but the fact the tracking has it sitting in a warehouse for a month and the package went out of town leads me to think it's the truth. on the other hand I figured I better ask you guys to see if you have ever seen anything like this.

Oh the joys of Canada Post. Updates to the post tracking system are only done if it happens to cross another scanning point in the system, not necessarily the next point on contact (a la UPS). This can make tracking difficult.
Our manufacturing shop stopped sending by post last year for this (and many other) reason. And we are a Canadian Company.
Now as for customs, that is totally at the discretion of the officer inspecting, and believe me, they can be tempermental. I had some parts for my plant waiting in customs for 8 weeks on one occasion, all b/c the officer in question hadn't filed his paperwork correctly. All attempts to intervene were met with cold denial of any wrongdoing, when we were able to finally identify that our skids were in their warehouse, they hit us with a "storage, and processing fine". Blech.
The tracking may show it went to Miss, On first, that's normal, its a major re-sort centre. Now if they were customs issues, it could have gone anywhere after that, including back to Winnipeg. They may have sent someone (during the christmas season its usually private couriers who are notoriously unreliable). If there was no one available to receive the package at the time of delivery, it can go to the vast wasteland that is processing. It can sit there until someone trips on it, or until you badger them enough. I suggest your trading partner do some badgering to find this package. Be aware, there will be fees already attached to it. Of course that's all assuming he put a correct return address on it!
Good luck

if he didnt switch the labels, is this person that stupid to get it sent back to himself?
if he would swap the labels positions he could send it, or is he trying to a return to sender to not have to pay shipping and customs checked the weight?

thats funny Re:England-I had No problem getting/sending to Canada. The key to avoiding most Problems W/customs and delays from Canada is to have them label the item as "gift "-you get it fast that way. Also , Most customs randomly stop some parcels and delay them for some reason or another, as a deterrance to"suspicious packages", Illegal items, terrorist crap, etc and do scans etc. on them, but Heck if I know why it would take a couple weeks to do so, I can only figure they have a big back log and not a lot of employees to do the work. either that or they Just like to frustrate the crap out of wargamers...LoL
