My weekly petition

Hello my fellow traders, sellers, and buyers I'm posting this petition to BarterTown for the purpose of removing a bad ref from my profile. I recieved this bad ref from one adhesivespatula how at this point probably has a new profile but still has a negative ref score and I will admit I did not at that point do a smart trade but in my defense it was my first few trades and I didn't really know about keeping all PM's on record so I was just deleting them as they came to keep it clean. So in the end I did make some bad decisions but I've been nothing but a fine outstanding citizen here on Btown and I'm tired of seeing this negative ref and would like to see it removed if not removed now at least give me a reasonable ref score to acquire to have it removed or maybe get enough votes on this post too.
This will be my weekly letter (Shawshank Redemption style) unless the admin.. threatens me
Show me some love.

I'd recommend just accepting and moving on. It was 2009, but doesnt invalidate the reference. This site is built on references, and if the admins just removed references on request, the site would no longer be what it is. Just be willing to discuss with anyone who questions it.

There are a few ways to address this complaint/request:
1) Statute of Limitations: We only allow 30 days from the point that a neutral or negative reference is left for you to refute it. You've missed that limitation.
2) Appropriateness: If a reference was deserved (which you admit it was), we do not remove it, even at the behest of the individual who placed it.
3) Burden of Proof: When refuting a reference, you are *required* to provide proof (copies of all communications) that the reference was undeserved. This is something you've admitted you were unable to do, even in 2009, when the reference was placed.
4) Venue: Refutation of references should be sent to an Administrator via PM, not placed in a public forum.
So, really, you missed all 4.
That said, I think you've proven yourself by now. If anyone won't deal with you because of one reference (that's not really worded to sound THAT bad) from 3 years ago, to Hell with 'em. You've got 30 positive trades behind you (25 of which are reflected by your score). You've shown anyone REASONABLE that you're a good trader.
That said, I humbly request that you not make this a weekly thing. You'll always be denied, based on the guidelines above, and would eventually become very annoying - which I'm certain is not your intent.
Take care.
Eric

I got cut off at the pass by two others but I have to agree that one ding on a 50 rating means nothing. One ding from 1999 means nothing.

plus.. heck, if needed, please point to the Hall of Shame, where adhesivespatula currently resides, if anyone wants to bring it up.
not to mention that your trade references come from several top rated traders already...

As mentioned, I wouldn't sweat it. Heck, if you didn't mention it, and we were trading, I probably wouldn't have noticed (I tend not to actually read through people's refs.). If I see an overall positive, I don't click on their feedback. Also, if I'm reading a Neg ref, and the person leaving it has an overall reference total that is negative, that'd make it even more likely for me to ignore.
Some learn lessons by losing an entire army early in their trading careers here (that'd be me), and some learn by carrying a neg reference. Just carry on.

Couldn't mearl just put a link to the Hall of Shame thread showing people the post about adhesivespatula. If I read that I wouldn't have any 2nd thoughts about trading with you.

He could put it in his Sig, but couldn't edit the ref left for him.
It would probably do more harm than good, though. As is, most people probably didn't even realize he HAD a negative reference.

I just have to say thanks.
I clicked the OP's rating because I wanted to read the bad one, and then I clicked on the rating of the guy who left him the negative comment.
That dude has a lot of red remarks.
Don't worry about the negative, if anyone does what I did they wouldn't hesitate to trade with you.
