Hello bartfans, It's me THEFAN. I will get to the point on this thread. I need KIDS clothing. It's not for me but for my local school. My daughter is in kindegarden and I donate a lot of my time to her class. I have noticed a lot of the kids need hats, mittens, scarfs and such. My daughter is blessed to have a lot of people in her life so she needs very little. She asked if she could give 4 pairs of here gloves to school today and I though that was a great thing to do. The teachers were so very happy and wished people could give more. Then it got me thinking. Are there others out there that might or could do the same. To give a little background The class is 32 boys and girls. 9 girls and 23 boys.. We live on an island off the coast of MAINE called DEER ISLE. A lot of parents are unable to get off island much and with cost heating oil and gas it's getting harder not to mention the cold weather has come real early this year for use.

I have some warhammer to offer in trade if need be. Thanks and hope to hear from you. Thanks THEFAN

Damn, that's a nice thing to do, Don. For what its worth, if I had any kids clothing, or access or means to get any, you can believe I'd send it your way.

Good luck in your pursuit; I'm sure there are plenty of kind people able to help out with this one.

I used to be stationed in Winter Harbor, ME, and I know how bitterly cold it gets up there. Good luck to ya.

My family has lots of stuff like that, I'll see if my mother will send any of it your way, she's always on the lookout for a good cause.
Also, no worries on whether or not it'll keep them warm, I live in New Brunswick, so our winters are likely as cold as yours. (you being on an island an all)
Cheers,
Andrew

wish i could help ya, but my kids are either too small or worn out with what they have.

i might be able to help with info in the right direction tho

you might try posting a flier up at your local Churches, esp any Catholic or Baptist (typically these have larger and sometimes a little wealthier congregation), you dont need to be a member. and if you by chance have a Department store close by talk to the management.

its worth asking places like this, church congregations will pool together resources like either donating hand me downs, buying new to donate, or even the old ladies knit or crochet stuff for things like these.

about the stores part. i worked with a guy a few yrs back (about 5-6) that was extremely involved with his cub scout pack (2 boys)

and when they had a camping function or outing that was all day or a couple days he sometimes went to grocery stores or whatever. he had turkies and other things donated for the outing and special events. some stores are allotted donations type things for local charities. it is worth asking. you might also contact your school office and get a contact person like the principal first to let the store be assured it is a legit asking.

Just be sure to be up front and dont be afraid to ask. and be sure in case someone offers a monetary donation figure out someway to either have a check written to a local store or to the school itself. that way it can be put towards your needs.

and with this right before christmas would be great, esp if you had a Salvation Army close by, they would probly help as well.
