Obviously this topic is a joke, but I was curious if anyone had any 360 Horror stories in their city/town about trying to acquire a 360, or people you know trying to acquire one.

Let's hear em!

Well, this happened not near me, but in the same state so I guess it counts...

ELKTON, Maryland (AP) -- A melee erupted among a crowd of shoppers in the rush for the new Xbox 360 video game console at a Wal-Mart Supercenter in northeast Maryland.

It took 10 police officers to restore order.

A crowd of about 300 people waited as much as 12 hours for the game, considered a must-have item this holiday season, to go on sale at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday. But an announcement from a store manager that the Xboxes would be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, instead of using a number system devised by customers, triggered the mayhem.

"That's when all hell broke loose," said Ben DiSabatino IV, a 23-year-old Bear, Delaware, resident, who had been waiting in line since 4 p.m.

Some customers were knocked down and trampled, though there were no serious injuries, said Elkton Police Lt. Lawrence Waldridge.

Wal-Mart canceled the sale and police ordered everyone to leave.
I'd make some snide comment about crabby Marylanders, but then my extended family would kill me a lot. ;-)

Not only is Walmart evil, but stupid, too.

I have to say that the manager that decided to spark the riot was pretty damn dumb. A crowd of 300 people who decide that they all want the same thing, they self organize so that everything goes smoothly, and the manager decides to yell "First Come, First Serve"? He's lucky that there weren't picthforks and torches involved in the riot. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I hope that manger gets fired, or worse.

Love the concept, but the execution was such a let down. I was hoping there would be a much larger crowd.

Horror story

Ok you want a horror story i got one for you. I work at Best Buy here in Texas and the day before we released the Xbox 360 we had 134 people waiting outside our closed doors. The night went on and I went home i came back the next morning at 8 to open with the store. I looked at the people and there was a man sitting on the ground with a crossbow. I thought no this cant be safe at all. So I grabbed one of the local police officers who was gonna open with us and the man jumped up and ran and the officer gave chase. All and all he was caught and it turns out he cut the line before we opened by holding people up with his crossbow. But that aside there is more to this story. When we opened the doors to the public there was a mass swarm of people so my manager told me to go to the back and make sure no one tried to grab an Xbox 360 without them knowing. (keep in mind we only had 24 premiums and 30 core systems) But as soon as everyone rushed in i heard a loud screaming i looked at the rush of people and there was a lady maybe in her late 60s early 70s on the ground laying there being trampled by this mob of people. Before i could save her another employee jumped in and rescued her. She was beaten and bruised and the sadest thing is she thought she was in the line for the Income Tax clinic in our mall.
