Problem related to this site

Greetings.

As a forum owner/operator myself, I hate to be the one to bring news such as this to administrators, but feel it is necessary.

This is my first visit to this site. I only found it after googling "bartertown" when I was approached, via facebook, by someone purporting to be a member here, who indicated that I have a pending trade with them.

Never having viewed the site, I would have simply assumed the user made a mistake, and had misidentified me. However, this user has threatened legal action against me if I do not comply and complete this non-existant trade.

As I see the situation, there are only two real possibilities, neither of which make me happy.
1. The user HAS in fact mis-identified me, by first/last name, and was merely acting in a manner which I will describe as rude and aggressive in his only contact with me.
OR
2. The message is some form of a scam, and some form of blackmail "send us X $USD, or we will call the FBI!" is likely on its way.

I'm not going to cooperate with any form of blackmailing, that isn't a concern, its more the concern that these people are purposely representing themselves to be some form of member/moderator with your service.

So, if the administrators would like to contact this person, please do so. Send me a PM, and after I verify that you are in fact admin here, I will give you the user's email and name provided.

Thank you for your time.

A quick glance at the section of this board for staff (bottom of the page, under "The Team") should tell you who all is Admin here, the User Names are in RED.. the 3 most often onsite are myself, MagickalMemories and Linrandir.

Please do send a PM to all 3 of us with the information you have. If someone is mis-using their membership we would love to know about it.

Thread locked.
As the administration is now involved, there's no reason to keep it open for comments.
