Okay so we have had a running of "pet peeve" threads of all sorts, so here is mine.

1. If you are selling something painted, post pictures. I might be interested but if you just make a list and say it is painted without any description, you arent going to get many bites. I know I always click away the instant I figure out there are painted items with no pictures. I DO stay if there are pictures. I'm sure the threads that post pictures get 100x better response and successful trades, so you are just shooting yourself in the foot.

2. The worst - if you have an item for sale, and plan on taking pictures, WAIT until you have taken pictures to post the thread. Posting up "Hey I have a titan painted for sale pics in a few days" means that by the time you take pics and update the thread, you are on page 2 and no one cares. Just wait!

The lazier you are the less likely you are going to see a successful trade!

I guess it doesn't effect me but I wonder how many people dont realize they are shooting themselves in the foot.

Can you suggest a good hosting site for pictures? I've found that this, aside from not having access to a camera, seems to hold people back the most.

Imageshack or Photobucket are good.

You don't need a hosting sight.
You can just upload them from your computer.
Down at the bottom when you are creating a post or a message you can click upload attachment.
You select the image from your hard drive and upload it.
You have to do it each time, but they don't go away unless you edit the post and remove it.
I hate when I go to look at a picture and it says "Photobucket Image removed or deleted"

Also, many of us who view from work cannot see images hosted on photo hosting sites. In their wisdom, our IT departments have decided that photo hosting sites are not "essential" places and have blocked them.

IMO, hosting directly here is your BEST option.

1 carrot for Dakkar98.

Just make sure the images are the appropriate size for the boards. If they are to large it will stretch the page, and if the file size is too big it will take some time to load. Both have the option of scaring away possible traders/buyers.

Yeah I would direct upload to the site. I use my own webspace but thats only because it is convenient. If I am posting pics here it is usually because I am updating my site too.

Just adding my 2 cents:

I seldom add pictures anymore, due to a couple of reasons: 1. cruddy camera 2. lack of skill with said camera 3. almost everyone wants to strip anything that is not pro-painted, so all they care about is that it needs work put in to get what they want. Heck, a lot of people won't even trade for painted models in my experience. I know I am often hesitant trading for painted plastics at least.

For pro-painted stuff that I have traded, the studio often has pictures on their pages that I can send links to which are far better than my meager camera and skill can manage.

Just my reasons,
C.C.

That makes sense.

It's one of those things where there are times it's fine and I understand, but I just wonder if sometimes people don't know better and don't realize they could be a lot more successful if they did.

Helps me too I don't have to read! :D
