Groundwerks Bases?

So, I had a discussion with the Warstore the other day, and they informed me that Groundwerks bases (in my case, the ice bases, but presumably across the range) have been backordered for months. Is anyone else running into this issue? and can anyone get me some of the 30mm base sets? :D I'm using them to denote unit leaders, casters, and characters in my Protectorate of Menoth army, so I only need a few, but even the Warstore can't get any!

I didn't realize Dark Age (same guy from Cool Mini or Not and New Wave Games) was producing them. Knowing that, I have absolutely zero surprise that there is a supply problem. That guy could screw up selling ice water in a desert.

Dang, that's a real shame, those bases are pretty slick.
Know of any equally good substitutes?

Actually, it would be hard to sell ice water in the desert.
I'm thinking "selling ice in the antarctic" might be more accurate.
LOL

Seriously, though... I agree. CMON is the ONLY good thing that came from the people behing New Wave.

:shudders:

Careful. If you say "New Wave Games" 3 times while looking in a mirror, they reopen their webstore.

Can't sell ice in the antarctic. It's free. Ice in the desert? Ready market with a prime product. I wasn't referring to the logistics. ;)

I've been preaching the merits of drop-in inserts for chamfered bases almost since I first saw them. It's a shame that no one really takes the idea seriously except the one guy who can't pull off a successful product.

I don't count CMoN as "successful". It's only what it is today (which I loathe) due to the world wide community, not the creator. It's been out of his hands for ages.

Just out of curiosity, why do you say that? Have you had a bad experience with him?

I was under the impression that he and his partner ran CMoN.

When it was New Age, they had a HUUUUGE site, populated by tons of pretty pictures of almost every model from every mini line out there. Rarely ever was anything listed as "out of stock."
Anyone who ordered from them quickly discovered the difference.
Barely anything was ever IN stock.
Most of the time, it took ages to get your product in (I once received half an order, then got the other half nearly 5 months later) and there are STILL people claiming to have never gotten their models or a refund.
Customer service was non-existant.

Eventually, they were forced to shutter their doors.

CMON survived, of course.

I am one of those victims of New Wave. I never did get my last order. After 40 months I finally gave up trying. (Which was what they counted on.)

I've dealt with him @ Dark Age as well. He's not a very trustworthy person. At all.

Well, I don't know anything about the business practices, but I'm a huge fan of the bases, and it'd be a shame to see them go the way of so many of the other businesses this particular guy is involved in.

How do I get in touch with him directly? Maybe I'll buy the business and run it right! :p

Oh ok, I was just curious.

I dont think I was around for New Wave. I found Bartertown right before Drop Zone joined....
