I don't know if this is the right place for this, but if not could someone move it where it needs to go....Thanks
First off I’m not very good at conversions; I want to change some of the BFSP Dwarf warriors into spearmen? I know I would have to chop off the axe head, and most of the haft to do this and replace it with smaller brass rods and find some spearheads that are not to big.
Any input anyone has would be great, here is an example though not a very good MS paint is not my strong point:

Could this work & look right, I know the old marauder mini's had some dwarf spearman and was wondering if these would be legal in a friendly gameplay if I converted them...Thanks

No advice on how to go about it, as you seem to already know the "how" of it.
They would DEFINITELY be 'legal" in any game, however.

Only problem you may encounter is getting them to line up right when you put them in ranks.

There are no Dwarf Spearmen in the current Dwarf army book though.

Hrmmm.Okay.
I don't play WHFB. I should clarify.
Those models would be tournament legal to represent Dwarf Spearmen, if they exist.

You can use them if your opponent lets you. I played dwarves. I think spearmen were taken out for a few good reasons- 1- it doesnt really fit the background/character of the Dwarves, & 2- Dwarf Spearman would be too good as cheap "core" good armor, good toughness/LD, cheap & fight in ranks!

Thanks for the input guys, I just wanted to work for a friendly game. I understand it would be up to the person that you are playing against. And since there are no rules for them it would be very hard to put them in play.
But couldn't you use the quarrellers stats & just half them for the range if the spear was thrown, I know that the spear wouldn't travel as far as the bolt would.
Then again maybe I just reading to much in this, and just want to have some dwarf spearmen...lol. I do fully understand that it would be hard to line them up in a unit.
Again thanks for everyones input, I'll just put them on the backburner for now.

Love the conversion idea. I would chop the hand and re-glue so the spear could be held in a stabbing pose. This would allow the butt of the spear to be over the head of the model behind it and to the side of the model in front.
You could also glue spears to the backs of some of the foot troopers and leave them as is.

Another option for converting... if you can find whole spears, just cut the entirety of the axe off of the hand, then drill a hole through the hand. Slide the spear into the hole you drilled and "BINGO!" You're set.

Thanks Montaa & MM, that would be a good way to convert them (in the words of Homer Simpson "D'oh").
I hadn't thought about that yet. I really like the idea of the hand positioning, and the spears on the backs also. Although I know that the spears wouldn't be very long, due to the fact they would be cumbersome (either holding them or on their backs) if they were taller than the dwarf. May turn them into a secondary weapon for my warrior by placing them on their backs, not that need them

.
Thanks for the other great idea's guys

The dwarfs with spears can "count as" a dwarf with hand weapon.
Dwarfs with spears do suit the dwarf style of combat, as it is a defensive weapon and the dwarfs are a defensive army.

All a matter of opinion. I agree to disagree.

Axe & hammer are the tradtional Dwarf weapon to me. But GW Dwarves had swords along with spears long ago.....

I'll agree that fluff-wise axe and hammer are the traditional dwarf weapons, but game-wise you gotta admit that dwarf with spears suits their defensive-style combat.

I would use steel spears from a line like the Pery Brothers.
They are a lot thinner than standard GW spears, but closer to "true"scale.
Foundry has some as well.

I would love if Dwarf Spearmen came back!
